Bill McEwen posted a clarification (in reply to this news item) here on ANN where he explains how the list of game ports was created and announces that Gary Peake has been promoted to Director of Developer Relations.

Well....I'm actually waiting for an announcement from Amiga Inc that:
a) Isn't hype
b) Isn't poorly handled / executed / worded
...sigh!

Heh.. I think he needs to attend an English remedial class!!! Seriously though, bad grammar makes you look VERY unprofessional and can't send a good message to investors.

Bill posts on the fly to ANN, makes a few mistakes in spelling and punctuation, and you guys crank up your dreary little Slag-O-Matics, junior version.
Excellent. Well done, wee laddies, well done.
Jesu, even Mark Barrett was better than this. More entertaining, at least. :'(
I think I'll go practice my projectile vomiting now...

In reply to Comment 3 (skal):
I'm not interested in correcting anyones spelling, grammar or punctuation - god knows
mine is bad enough. The thing that concerns me most is the retractions and clarifications
that always follow these muddled press releases....
It maybe that I'm a little unfair and this is typical across the industry. The only
reason I notice Amiga Inc.'s little foibles is that I'm interested.

In reply to Comment 4 (JKD):
Bill McEwen did not correct anything. He sais that the items on that list will be checked again, not that there _are_ incorrect entries. Read the original thread - the one that complained that his game was listed later stated that he actually _had_ commited that game for the AmigaOne.

In reply to Comment 5 (Martin Baute):
Very true---we did screw up.I tried to do some damage control in the other thread, but people just like a good arguement, even if the facts don't support it.We screwed up,and put Amiga in a weird situation---no more,no less.It happens all the time---get over it.The biggest mistake I ever made was voicing my original concerns in a public forum, which is starting to turn into a lynch mob.Even if you read the original thread, you'll notice the phrases "I'm not angry at Amiga....I'm just confused..."<---But no one chose to pay any attention to that. And,even after I found out that we had made a mistake, there were people picking away at my reply,as if there was some secret meaning to it.Well, there's not.We had an exchange of emails with Amiga back in July, and in one of those emails,WE COMITTED TO TLP.End of story. I'm glad that we kept records of all emails mailed out, because this crap would've gotten even farther.
If you still think that there is some big conspiracy,or that Bill McEwen is holding a gun to my head at this very minute, you are now officially an Amiga Zealot. You're a fanatic---get help soon. This is not aimed at any particular people in this forum---it's just a "clarification".There are some times when I seriously don't know why we even develop games for the Amiga, considering how much of a freak show this dysfunctional community has become.Anyway,to all of those conspiracy theorists,to all of the lonely sods out there that have nothing better to do then to turn the crank on the Big Amiga Rumormill---get over yourselves. As for the real Amiga community, accept our sincerest apologies---we'll keep our mouth shut next time. :)
End of rant.

In reply to Comment 6 (Chris Kelley):
Thanks, Bob. And now on to something completely different.
Read again the phrase about the lynch mob. What has happened to the "community" we are so proud of? VMC and individual computers throwing dirt at each other. DCE making CGX drivers exclusive for their product. People trying to convince others to boycot Amiga Inc. because "the dŽAmiga is a PC". People nitpicking at each and every word that is voiced by Amiga officials. Dealers calling for Amiga Inc. to save their sales.
Sheesh.

In reply to Comment 1 (JKD):
There are definitely some rough edges (grammar, spelling, etc.) to some of the recent press releases coming out of Amiga, but you can't really attack them for hype. Hype is pretty much an industry norm, at least at the consumer end of the high-tech spectrum. Example: Trip Hawkins (formerly of Electronic Arts) very recently pronounced that the about-to-be released Sony Playstation 2 will have an impact on society-at-large comparable to that of the printing press, invented by Gutenberg in 1453. Technics-Matsushita, on the release of its first-generation compact disc player, proclaimed that their CD player was providing "the perfect sound forever." I haven't seen anything coming out of Amiga Inc. as grossly overstated as that.

In reply to Comment 3 (skal):
It's not complaints about minor issues such as grammar or spelling.
It is more major complains, such as the general amount of incorrect information AInc seem to be peddalling, sadly/.
Just like all the previous companies have done :(
RTOS == Run Time operating System??? (STILL says that on the AInc website).
"Millions" of current Amiga users???
AInc and Corel working together to bring Corel apps to the Amiga????
Pagestream being ported to AmigaDE (even though the authors have already stated they are NOT posting it)????
Sadly, when there is no product, all we can judge AInc on is the information they give out. When that turns out to be, at best, garbled and inaccurate... :(
Don't get me wrong - I sincerely hope AInc DO pull off what they are attempting, I really do.
However, they have got to be a bit more professional in their public face, and at least make sure they check their information before releasing it!
/me now waits to be flamed for daring to critisise :(

Ya no crap, I see that crap on there web page, and I am like,"what the?!?!" No this is not good, and I do not like it when Amiga always says,"well we have been so busy" But that the same time, they say they can afford new employees, yet won't hire and employee to monitor what goes on there web page, and what information is revealed to the public, and keeps the page updated and what not? What's up with that?

RTOSReal Time OS. TaOS is one as is QNX. According to Gary Peake it is also a run time OS. Bill does know the difference and Ami is both.
> "Millions" of current Amiga users???
Who knows? Especially if you count UAE users you could probably reach 1m. Jim Collas`s Amiga Inc claimed there were 100,000 of us but I think that all these figures tend to be wild off the top of the head guesses.
> AInc and Corel working together to bring Corel apps to the Amiga????
Why not? Okay maybe now that Corel has had money pumped into it by MS maybe they`ll change their minds but Until they confirm or deny that fact it makes sense for Amiga Inc not to change their web page cause all the zealots in the amiga community will immediately take that as a sign that Corel HAVE pulled out.

In reply to Comment 13 (Karajorma):
I KNOW that RTOS == RealTimeOS.
My point was that AInc are STILL spouting that RTOS == Run Time OS (wtf is a Run Time OS? I didn't realise there was any other type - maybe a Compile Time OS?)
I was illustrating just one of the myriad of blunders McEwan etc make, offering that as a reason why some people find it hard to accept anything AInc say, given a lot of it is plain wrong (and they still don't correct it!) :(

In reply to Comment 14 (Anonymous):
RTOS as we define it has two meanings.
1. Real time OS as is commonly known. And it really is. 8^)
2. Run Time OS. This is roughly akin to the run time modules you need for M$ Visual Basic apps. The idea is to make AmigaDE apps run on a platform that doesn't have Amiga DE installed.

Sounds almost like a Microsoftian appraoch - take common, long-established industry-standard definitions, and then completely change their meaning (to something unrelated) for your own purposes :(

...and using the DIR command in AmigaOS is clear proof of the conspiracy from Redmond? I mean, after all they ARE spelled the same...8^)
Come ON people...lighten up a bit. Where's the fun? My definition of the Spirit of the Amiga? IT WAS -FUN-!!!
I've waited 17 years for the Amiga to 'make it'(that's right, since before it was released). I got my A1000 in the last week of Sept 1985 so I'm not a newcomer.
Well, here I am in Snoqualmie, WA with the coolest bunch of people I've had the fortune to work with in 30 years in the computing field. The bitter cynicism I see floating around is tiresome and doesn't produce a darn thing. In fact the louder some people scream and whine the more certain I am that the particular individual has never done anything for the Amiga. Maybe this is a law of nature like inverse/square law.
