Maybe there is a UAE archive for each platform (MacUAE, WinUAE,
LinuxUAE....)
Something like Amiga Forever (maybe the announced 4.0 version).
Let's have a look on the haage&Partners site in the coming few
days....

There was meant to be some sort of "bridge" between old and new - something to use new hardware on before getting the new OE/DE/OS whatever - maybe this is it.
To be honest I think (Oi! Fleecy! Bill! I know you are there!) AMIGA NEED TO COMPLETELY CLARIFY THE SITUATION ASAP because there is alot of guess-work and mis-understanding going around. You just need to look at all the mail I have recieved (and promptly deleted) from the os35list in the last 48 hours to know what I mean...
They need to state the benefits to users who dont have 3.5, those that do have it and those that intend to get on the new OE/DE/OS ship when it sails.
If we dont hear anything maybe there will be a big suprise at Xmas... ;)

Possibly, H&P now have the rights to that don't they?
Anyway, I was guessing and poking fun: MultimediaMoovid, multi-platform = Moovid on 68k and PPC :) Dunno what would be scaleable tho.

In reply to Comment 6 (Rodney McDonell):
ok. I think what it amounts to is that Amiga had this really cool graphic made for the new SDK promotion, then Amiga announces (classic) Amiga OS 3.9. Bill looks around his desk, sees the poster and says,
'Hey, just add a '3.9 over the boing ball and call it done!'
Of course, that's my theory...

They also need to state the benefits of 3.9 over 3.1. Because as far as
I'm concerned, 3.1->3.5 wasn't worth a penny
.

Amiga should have had the OS3.9 website running the day the news was released. Anyways, I have to agree with your comments. The proposed price of 3.9 is less than the original price of 3.5, but according to discussion on the A0S35 mailing list, 3.9 is supposed to be a major upgrade with more functionallity and features.

I think they have done a PPC version, hence the new kickstart...
I read somewhere that HP had started to make a PPC version long ago and
in Mars-April, Amiga Inc gave them the go ahead to make PPC version.
And they have also made a 68k emulator, which they have been working on
for over a year now..
But, that's at least what I think.

Glad someone reminded me about the new ROM chips...
Would this have anything to do with the news on the Individual Computers/Jens Schoenfelds site about his new KickFlash gizmo??
If memory serves me right, he said that future Amiga OS`s won`t have new ROMs (because of the production costs)..but will come with a file to be installed into a flashrom.
BTW..feel free to call me stupid, but I see Amiga are calling this an upgrade.Does this mean you need 3.5 installed first?

So I take it that Amiga have no intentions of finishing and fixing all the bugs in 3.5 first?

Perhaps BoingBag 2 just grew and grew and then someone said, "Hey, let's rename
if Amiga OS 3.9! That way people will think it's a short snappy upgrade cycle,
rather than a long delayed bugfix."
Or so runs my rather misanthropic speculation...
