redrumloa writes: Eyetech Group Ltd of the UK has become the first company to sublicence the Amiga VooDoo graphics card driver technology from DCE for use in their shortly-to-be-released Predator PCI/AGP expansion bus boards for the A1200 and A4000. Details here.

This should probably rate being moved to the main section. Despite the "press release - spin control" comments suggesting that the exclusive license was misunderstood in the newsgroups, I'd suggest that this is a positive statement. It makes the point that apparently they have not locked up all rights to Voodoo drivers for the Amiga, only that they have guaranteed themselves drivers.
Perhaps we can move beyond the general agreement that, licensing fees PAID vs. COSTS ACCEPTED, verbal contracts BROKEN or not, it's best for all video accelerator offerings to have the chance to have Voodoo drivers as they bring the Classic Amigas up to modern speeds.
PaulT ________ Reply here, it's what it is for.

"DCE gets exclusive rights to publish Voodoo CGX drivers
Oberhausen, Friday 13th October 2000
Today, Vision Factory Development (VFD) and DCE Computer Service signed an exclusive contract about the use of current "CGX Voodoo"-Drivers. In contrast to earlier announcements , this driver will be exclusively available for the G-REX PCI expansion only."
IMHO a little bit of contradiction ...
They could also cut the licensing prices with licensing to ELBOX which is less a competitor than Eyetech board.

Thomas Dellert of DCE:
"...Of course the work involved needs to be paid for - and
hence licences must be bought, not given away. However
the G-Rex and Predator busboards are by no means the
only ones for which the VooDoo driver technology is
relevant, and we are willing to discuss licencing terms
with any other manufacturers who might be interested."
Elbox, did you get the hint? ;-)

I will never buy or support DCE products, because;
1. There thieves
2. They backstab
3. They dont support any of there products
4. They dont repair products under warrenty purchased from them.
5. There prices are inflated.

Get self a hint and leave with spreading such nonsence. When there was no phase5/DCE the whole Amiga world would have collapse more than 5 years ago.
We can aspect some more wonderfull things from DCE.

Where did you get this information that the Eyetech boards are built by DCE?
The only high end Eyetech products stated to be built by DCE are the PPC boards & Permedia 2 graphics cards..
