Well, the Wired article's pretty good, Mac Central is way off and ZDNet falls somewhere in the middle. Their comment from the "market analyst" is quite funny. :)

I think Amiga announced to many things at once. The result is confusion.
Some people seem to think that the AmigaONE will only be available as an upgrade to the A1200/A4000 whilst other think it will be a (mac style) powerpc only machine. Not to mention the fact that some people don't seem to know that AmigaDE and OS3.9 aren't the same. Some articles even sugest (atleast to me they do) that the AmigaDE will be some sort of fancy UAE.
Amiga should realy clear up this situation asap before people start believing the BS in some of these articles (and others).

In reply to Comment 2 (AmiFreak):
I think you are absolutely right the outside media (outside in the sense of outside of the Amiga Community) are confused. I knew this confusion would happen for them once I read the announcement. Amiga Inc should have split the article in two, one focusing on the Eyetech Announcement which is anyway more aimed at current users. The other ariticle would be the primary article announcing the framework of AmigaOne.
It is the past now, but Amiga Inc should learn from what has occurred.

In reply to Comment 4 (Electric Head):
Splitting in two would have made no difference.
The problem is that these are poorly researched articles.
Moreover, even a lot of Amiga users didn't get it so how can you expect outsiders to get it?
The art of reading something carefully is being lost I would say.

In reply to Comment 5 (Ben Hermans/Hyperion):
Yeah this is true, from those articles I don't get the impression that the writer has actually read sources and investigated properly. But if journalists don't get it, and some amiga users don't get it, its still a bit of a problem that should be addressed by amiga themselves, wouldn't you think? These are amigas potential customers here, and if they dont understand the point, I doubt they'd want to spend much money on it.
A re-wording of the executive update, or some reinforcing of the main points might make it come accross better to some people. Remember, a lot of potential customers automatically associate the word 'Amiga' with an orange and blue screen, and wedge shaped computer cases. Journalists especially.

In reply to Comment 6 (Electric Head):
The problem is Amiga's wording of the articles, it's all marketing speak, sort of
like the US debates, takes a few days to sort out what they are really trying do,
and what the true meaning is behind their statements. These journalist are just repeating
what Amiga has themselves put out on press releases at one time or another, in the
short period of time they've owned the amiga name.
