Philipp Luthard informs that a website of the mysterious bPlan GmbH recently mentioned in an Amiga Inc press release has been discovered. It's at a not-so-surprising url bplan-gmbh.de. A whois search tells that the site is owned by one Thomas Knaebel. More details below.

bPlan website found : Comment 1 of 14 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Trizt on 30-Oct-2000 23:00 GMT | I must say it has been a good work done by Philipp Luthard to find this homepage.
But bplan hasn't much information on their homepage, not even about them selves. At the moment it's just a page which could be done on a few minutes and it seems like it's run on a windows box (as the address http://www.bplan-gmbh.de/index.htm is valide but not http://www.bplan-gmbh.de/index.html), or atleast the page is made on a windows box. |

AmigaONE PPC addon board's, ironic really. |

Posted by Alkis Tsapanidis on 30-Oct-2000 23:00 GMT | Ahem, I did the same background check 2 weeks ago and I discovered
the same thing AND something else:
In Der Au 28 D-61440, Oberuselex-Phase 5's address
Thomas Kneabel, A employe of ex-Phase5?
BlizzPPC Manual: Best Boy on set: Thomas Kneabel
I think he is marked on other Blizzards Cyberstorms
and CVisions. A guy told me that his Blizz030 has
Thomas Kneabel marked on it as well as Gerald Carda.
And www.bplan-gmbh.de is on the same server as www.phase5.de
was if I'm not mistaken.
Maybe Phase5's bankruptcy was just announced because they
owned a lot of money to their liquidators and now they are
refounded under another name and firm?
Ralph Schmidt please comment here to clear things up if you
can to avoid any false rummors from flying arround. |

Posted by Philipp Luthardt on 30-Oct-2000 23:00 GMT | In reply to Comment 3 (theJUDGE): Ok, no problem. I didn't know that this is old news, to me it was new.
I mailed Teemu to check the link and asked if it is really worth a news item.
Obviously he decided it is.

Posted by Amifan on 30-Oct-2000 23:00 GMT | hehe Plan B has started.
Phase5 said they would produce some kind of PPC based mainboard. Developement progressed further then we expected?
It's nice to see that the *HW* knowledge of Phase5 is still going on.
I wonder what happened to the BlizzardG4 preorder money.
Is it yet refunded or is it maybe used to finance the bPlan AmigaOne?
Speculations Speculations...........:) |

Posted by Mick.r on 30-Oct-2000 23:00 GMT | In reply to Comment 6 (Amifan): as far as i know no money has been refunded,at least if it has
i have not seen any of it:-(.Maybe i and possibly other people
who paid a deposit will get some form of preferential treatment
when/if any hardware is forthcoming, although this is highly
unlikely i can always hope |

Posted by Moneyless on 30-Oct-2000 23:00 GMT | It's shouldn't sound too criticising ;-).
Of course it's funny to see "Plan A went bankrupt at phase 5. Will the Plan B (=be) successfull?
Or is there only phase 1 planned?" ;-)
Speculating with Spekulatius. |

Posted by Don Cox on 31-Oct-2000 23:00 GMT | In reply to Comment 7 (Mick.r): Personally, I would be very glad to see some revival of the hardware
side of Phase 5, as all the cards I bought from them worked well, and
their designs were well thought out.
I did lose money on the Pre-order for a G4 card, but IIRC this money
was supposed to be in a separate account, so it might still re-appear.
I'm not very hopeful, though.
But I guess the Phase5 people lost a lot more money than I did. |

Posted by Markku Virtanen on 01-Nov-2000 23:00 GMT | bPlan=ex-Phase 5... Interesting... If this is true then they can finally build their so called A/Box, under the name AmigaONE. :) In some comment someone said, that its Phase 5 plan B. Makes sense to me :) |

Posted by Gerd Kautzmann ( ex P5 employer ) on 01-Nov-2000 23:00 GMT | Thomas Knäbel ( Knaebel ) ist definitely an Ex kolegue.
He was leader of the repair and produktion department.
He even made some basic works when a new produkt was
developed ( building up prototypes etc .... )
Just for your information:
the orinial Phase 5 company was founded from some Amiga Fans
( Wolf Dietrich & Gerald Carda ) the first employers where
all friend of them.
Usually you will find the names of the friends on the manuals.
regards Gerd Kautzmann |
