I got the same thing.
The only reasion I could think is because there might be legal problems with why this is being done. Law on this type of subject (in UK) has some complex rules with such an issue, I don't know but might same sort of law in USA.

Lett me try to understand this ...
First Amiga offers people to buy "a piece of the company" up to
10% ... and a few days later they don't want us to buy ourselfs in ?
Maybe they only want to sell alot of the "stocks" at the same time.
Its time that Amiga Inc. started to bring news more clearly.

In reply to Comment 4 (nOM^):
No they didn't offer. They asked the community to see if it could be done. They probably didn't receive enough interest
in such a project. It's probably to early to do this, maybe for end 2001....

That is correct. They did not offer. They was going to look into it. You should expect a new press release regarding it. Perhaps Amiga saw the article where someone suggests they are doing it because of lack of money, and they want to prove them wrong?

Yeppers I got the same message but I was under the impresion they were just "testing the waters" to see if there is interest in this kind of offering and make a formal effort at some later date!

I also received a statement from Chris Peterson indicating that stated:
"Thank you for your interest but at this time we are not currently pursuing
doing an offering to the public. Please visit our website www.amiga.com often
to keep up with our activities. We value you as a member of the Amiga community
and we appreciate your support."
As I understood it, nothing definite was happening yet, but that they were going
to look into making a "Registration A Filing" that would allow them to sell up
to 10% of potential IPO stocks to people (within the Amiga community) before an
official IPO occured for the public at large (an additional 15% of their stock).
In any case, I am interested in investing, and hope they make it clear when we
can get in so we can show our support.
I am trying to find out if this was a response from an earlier E-Mail I sent
Chris asking about a possible IPO, or if it is related to the later accouncement
,and E-Mail I sent to investor@amiga.com, that Bill made.

I think Amiga is avoiding this kind of thing right now because the tech markets are so volitile. What a great way to piss off Amigans by losing their money through an Amiga IPO. Not to bash Amiga. Even guys like Lucent, Microsoft, seem to be getting hammered.....

The problem is that its a rough market for computer companies in the US right now. The mostly has to do with all the failed startups in California, Oregon and Washington.
Most venture capitalists are re-trenching to try to recoupe their losses.
