"In a move to increase engagement with early-stage embedded developers of Java-based technology, devicetop.com has announced the launch of its University Program. This program, supported by major industry players, was piloted in October 2000 using Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada as the first participating university. The program consists of seminars and weekend workshops where computer science and computer engineering students are taught how to develop and create Java applications specifically for smart devices. The program is the latest step in an ongoing process to build leadership for Java software in a rapidly growing industry. Devicetop.com is a software developer community founded by Espial and supported by partners such as Motorola, Intel, Amiga, Dr. Dobbs, JavaWorld and Java Report." The full article can be found here.

... and I just wanted to shout out how happy I was to see Amiga
being mentioned directly next to Motorola and Intel...
Well, maybe anytime :-/

The ANN item is misleading. Amiga is not mentioned in the article. What _is_ said is (quoting):
"Espial products are supported on leading device operating systems and Java virtual machines from companies such as Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) - WinCE, Linux - Redhat (NASDAQ: RHAT), Symbian - EPOC32, QNX - QNX 4 and Neutrino, Microware (NASDAQ: MWAR) - OS9, Be - (NASDAQ: BEOS) BEOS, Sun Microsystems (NASDAQ: SUNW) - Java platform, Tao Group -- intent and Insignia (NASDAQ: INSGY) - Jeode "
So it's Tao, not Amiga specifically. And that is actually a little worrisome, perhaps? PaulT

According to Yahoo, they believe that Amiga is a part of it all.

In reply to Comment 1 (Phil):
Oops, my mistake. The quote was in fact taken from the Yahoo article (see above). I just assumed the Devicetop article was identical. Silly me. :)

Devicetop.com IS being supported by AMiGA!
But it is afaik only with AMiGA being a sponsor.
Which means a lot to me, as I suppose that is where AMiGA is headed, otherwise why would AMiGA sponsor it!
On amiga.com there's a link to devicetop.com and on devicetop.com you can see the AMiGA logo on the right, just below where it says sponsors.
