This sounds interesting. If the final price is nice to my wallet, I'll reach out for one! ;)

This is very nice, but it will be worthless to me, if I can't use it as an AmigaOne expansion.
I guess, I'll have to wait and see until the Eyetech expansion hits the market...

In reply to Comment 3 (Henrik Mikael Kristensen):
As long as they don't announce what software it will be running, this is nothing but propaganda to sell Mediator PCI boards.
It's quite easy to get a logo license, just look at http://www.chips.ibm.com/products/powerpc/trademark.html and you will find that you simply need to build a product based on PowerPC. Even the AmiJoe board or this old Escena cards could get a license probably ....
This is a good marketing move but says nothing about the quality of the product.

This is fascinating, great news i'm sure, but could they please sort
out the p96 mess first! It is perhaps a tad more important as you
can't buy the damn PPC cards yet.

Frank, you are working for DCE now.
Please write why DCE does not have such a licence if it is as easy as you said.

I don't care even if they put an Intel Inside sticker on it!
I just want to know :
- which software solution it uses
- the price/availability
- if I'll be able to get rid of my BlizzardPPC or not

In reply to Comment 5 (Ade):
Yep, what I'm waiting for is a press release saying "we signed a deal with the P96 team" and another "we signed a deal with H&P for WarpOS to run on the SharkPPC". An IBM agreement is nice, but I don't really care about it...
Because without real P96 (or CGX) drivers or without WarpOS, there won't be any (commercial) game working on SharkPPC. Nor many apps..

Oh, very cute and stuff but... BAH!
Better if they first put an end in P96 "soap-opera".

I agree. Really don't know why they won't settle the P96 issue properly. The fancy IBM etc licenses won't make us forget the real problem here.

You don't want to get rid of your Blizzard just yet. According to
Elbox, you can use your current processor upgrade along-side the
Shark.
The lack of any software soultion at this stage is a bit of a worry
though.
Richard.

I'm just doing contract work. Everything I say here is my personal opinion and does not reflect any company opinion.
I don't know if DCE has or phase5 had such a license but if they ever had, this wouldn't/hadn't change(d) or improve(d) the product ....
At least they have a CE logo and I know that CE tests are more expensive than sending a letter to IBM :)
It's ok if Elbox wants to celebrate in public that they got a piece of paper that allows them to put a logo on something but I would be more impressed by a working hardware running Amiga software. Let's wait and see if they can show something at the WoA show in Cologne.

You already have two Motorola CPUs working in your Amiga (68k and 603e). Why not
add a third one? As long as the software makes use of such a combination... ;-)

In reply to Comment 12 (Frank):
ohh really....
now why would I go out and purchase a G-Rex board if DCE dont even support the products they produce. Fact is I rather support Elbox products as they support the customer.
I would never ever purchase a DCE hardware product again, that is why I sold my CS PPC, because if it did break, DCE can't guarantee they would fix it. As per all the posts in comp.sys.amiga.misc and everyone complaining about them.
Do you think anyone in there right mind would purchase a product from DCE?, they have a bad reputation. DCE has to get there act together first before releasing products they can't support and guarantee to fix.
DCE shouldn't even have CE, with all there product's frying, maybe I should right a letter to them and ask why DCE should have CE for many products that have fried?

"SharkPPC G3/G4 750@550MHz"... Well, the 750 is a G3, not a G4, is it?

Elbox is proud to announce the release of its first software only application "Rippit"tm. "It is an all in one solution!" Mariusz Wloczysiak of Elbox said, "It helps you to design revolutionary hardware projects".
But that is not all. "Rippit"tm is THE solution to the socalled driver issue: It searches the whole internet for driver software from authors who definitely won't be able to afford suing your own company, reverse-engineers their code, and guides you through the complicated process of adapting your own driver.
"But it doesn't stop there!" Mariusz Wloczysiak hastens to add, "The most useful thing (and our personal favourite here at Elbox!) is the innovative "hype"tm feature (patent pending)" Hype is your personal assistant and can automatically issue press releases that a) attack competitors b) blame the fault and the intellectual fraud on the original authors (very wicked) and c) describe the process of filling out a webpage at IBM as a massive marketing agreement! "It is a real life saver, we use it all the time!" Mariusz Wloczysiak explains.
"Rippit"tm will be available via mail order directly from Elbox at about 80US$.

In reply to Comment 17 (Anonymous):
But DCE strikes back, they just signed up an "EXLUSIVE DEAL WITH AMIGA INC". Read the pressrelease below:
DCE gets exclusive rights to publish AmigaOS software/drivers
Today, Amiga Inc and DCE Computer Service signed an exclusive contract about the use of current "AmigaOS software".
This contract guarantees the immediate availability and the best support a user can get for the current range of powerful amiga software in conjunction with all currently available ppc accelerators of the Blizzard- and CyberStorm series.
Only DCE software/drivers are allowed to be executed on AmigaOS3.x (including the latest release of AmigaOS3.9)!!
<snip>
As a final note, the just released Rippit(tm) versions that are probably develivered with the Mediator hardware are in no way authorized or licensed by AmigaInc, and may therefore not be used or distributed.
