Guvenc Kaplan writes: "Hi, as Amigart, we have opened a petition page for AmigaOS4.0 upon an idea on this unmoderated forum. We invite everybody to join and submit his opinion. The description on our page is as follows: 'Haage & Partner (authors of AmigaOS 3.5 and 3.9) is waiting for the approval of Amiga Inc CEO. BillMCEwen to begin coding Amiga OS V4.0 . This new version will probably feature a new kickstart rom and full PowerPC support. If you want an official AmigaOS for PPC please join the petition for Amiga OS 4.0. Leave Your Message to Amiga Inc. and let your voice be heard...P.S.:Please do not start MorphOS vs AmigaOS discussion here...We think that MorphOS is a new PPC OS and should be considered seperately from AmigaOS.'" You can sign the petition here.

Well as long as this so-called AmigaOS4.0 (if it does get to exist) doesnt't have a sniff of ReAction with it, I think a PPC verion of MUI is the way to go, I'll buy it. But the WHOLE thing needs re-written not just parts of it.

I have to say while it'd be nice to see the current AmigaOS be
developed. It'd create a WarpUP/PowerUp type of confliction. I must
admit, the new AmigaDE has more potential to revive the Amiga. An
OS4.0 would have to have some real kick ass features, better than
AmigaDE, to attract the punters. And for all those developers who
bought the SDK, what would they think? It's NOT a good idea, it's too
late to turn back now.

A petition is nothing more than a petition. Basically it states that the people signed within are interested in specific happenings or products there of. As most of the PPC users remember the ordeal with the Blizzard ROM and Phase5, will this petition make any changes to Amiga Inc I wonder. Could creating a new ROM for the current Amiga potentially hurt the sales of AmigaONE or even other side projects of the like. I think I might have a better idea for a petition to offer Amiga:
Who wants Trident?
( ) I do!
( ) I do!
I'm fairly sure sure that BillM and Fleecey are very much aware of how interested the community is in a new 4.0 ROM with PPC, RTG, and RTA support. Even still, is it actually feasible for them to go ahead with this notion?

No point in flamming over the GUI. Also a plus is that most of the system is already ported to C so a port would be easy. ReAction classes are in C as well so that will get ported easily.

If i recall correctly, when Bill McEwen first told the world about AmigaOS3.9 in Melbourne, he displayed a screenshot which had AMIGA OS 4.0 in the top of the screen. He told us to ignore that, saying that he believes to have a version 4.0 would be a full PPC native port. So i am guessing if the sales of 3.9 are good, as he mentioned, then we will see a PPC version of Amiga OS...no petition necessary.

What about a Tao VP port of the classic OS instead of PPC. Gives us PPC as well.
Or is the hardware linkage between the classic OS and the machine too great for this to be possible?

Hmmm...this thing came into my mind:
Amiga Inc. could release AmigaDE as AmigaOS4.0...
for mainstream it could be AmigaDE 1.0...
but in 'the about dialog': AmigaOS 4.0
So there could/(will?) be PPC-version of AmigaOS... ;)
Generation leap like MacOS 9 to MacOSX (MaxOs 10)
