Elbox announce the Mediator PCI for Amiga 4000. It's supposed to go on sale at the WOA2000 show this weekend.

Now this is not entirely clear to me that if it goes onto the CPU-bus, or onto the daughter-board slot of the A4000D mobo. Though, it seems it's the latter, in this case it won't be too fast... (~Z3 speed.)

In reply to Comment 1 (victor #):
Then how is it possible that the Mediator 1200 with the Voodoo3 card can achieve as much speed as it does with being on the belly-bay adaptor?
(sarcasm) Could it be that they have found a way to put some sort of processing power on the PCI board itself? No, never!(/sarcasm)
I've sent Elbox my information to purchase as I've got a couple spare Voodoo3500/Voodoo5 boards here. I wonder if they will support the TV-Out of the 3500 or 5500... hmm...

Well done Elbox. Once again they produce the goods while rival companies tell us how much better their vapourware will be. Now lets get the Shark into production and keep our fingers crossed for an A3000 version soon.

Is it me or is it just me - are the Video speed results (released a week ago) simply state of the art or is it just me who cannot see the potential power of the released Mediator 1200 + Voodoo3???
Or are the results(compared to inferior Permedia2) simply stunning??? :-)

In reply to Comment 2 (the man in the shadows):
No wonder that tests using the on-chip blitter to process data in the video-memory are fast. But, games/apps needing fast transfer-rate between the main-memory and the board will experience the bottleneck-effect of not-so-fast bus-transfer rate. It's simple. (Switch on the lights... :) )

Of course, the SharkPPC will change things. (Especially with programs that take use of them...)

Well, I'm sitting in the IRC conference at WOA with Elbox now, and they promise support for AmigaDE with Mediator and SharkPPC. :-)

Great news - that's what a hell of a lot of us guys have been waiting to hear. Now let's see it in writing in a press release :)

I am just back from WOA2000 in Cologne. And I think that the G-REX is
the better solution for the A4000 with PPC due to the bus speed of the
CyberstormPPC. Even when the G-REX has a fuzzy(?) construction on the
expansion-port of CSPPC. I talked to the guys from Elbox. They were
the best dressed people of the exhibitors on the WOA2000 :-) The
Mediator board replaces the original daughterboard an will be only
sold with the PCI logic card and the tower system from Elbox!!! Why
should I buy a expensive Amiga tower to use a f... PCI board.

In reply to Comment 9 (grooves):
...Because the tower and PCI will cost about the same as a CSPPC alone, be easier to get,
work with the better Picasso96, and I can go anywhere and spend $70 for a VooDoo card that just
absolutely SPANKS this permedia II. We're talking about less than a third the price, and it
kicks the crap out the PermediaII perf-wise. Then there's the soundcards, 100Mbps NIC's for $15,
the TV adapters, DVD decoders etc...
That's why.
