James Daniels writes: Payback is back from the duplicators, and so you can now buy the game from their secure on-line shop. They accept payment by credit/debit cards or by cheque/check. They have also added a FAQ for the demo and full versions of Payback which explains how to overcome some of the more common problems people have had with the playable demo. The game is also available from Blittersoft, KDH Datentechnik and other retailers.

Sorry, the link to Blittersoft is wrong. It should be:
http://www.blittersoft.com/pback.html
Christian, could you correct this for me please?
(Otherwise Blittersoft will have my guts for garters. :)

In reply to Comment 2 (Esseffe):
I don't know about pre-orders placed with other companies, but placing
a pre-order with Apex would just mean that you would be contacted on
the day of release. You are then free to buy the game from whoever you
choose. The shipping time varies from 2-8 working days depending on
where in the world you live and how efficent the post office is.

I like the demo, it looks like a well done game! I have a question though, why is it using Chip-RAM? The game is fairly speedy at 320x240, but starts getting sluggish at 640x480. I have noticed it using the majority of chip-ram though, should run faster if it wasn't using chip-ram. I am using WB2FAST in OS3.9! My setup is A3000(D)2Meg Chip, 12Fast(ZIP), Cyberstorm MK-2 060/50(64Meg on accel) and Cybervision64.

In reply to Comment 5 (redrumloa):
The game is using chip RAM because it's run out of fast RAM. (You're
really supposed to have at least 16Mb fast RAM to run the game - the
game will go a lot faster if you do.) However, a small amount of chip
RAM is always used (no matter how much fast RAM you've got) because
certain things (such as sounds or the screen if you're running on AGA)
always have to be in chip RAM.

First off thanks for responding!

Actually I have 76Meg of fast ram! 12M ZIP and 64Meg SIMM(on MK-2). Most of that was available when I ran the game. I noticed once when the demo was exiting that about 1.5Meg of Chip RAM was used! Maybe that was a fluke, I'll check it again when I play it tonight!
BTW-I was pretty impressed by the game, I never got into GTA, but figured on a whim to try out the demo of Payback. I'm glad I did and believe I will be placing an order this weekend:-) I hope Software Hut here in the USA has it in stock.
Oh yeah and I'd like to see a PPC module released:-)
Regards,
Jim Farley

What the hell is with DCE anyways? I've heard *everyone* complaining about how slow they are, including dealers. They have a corner on the PPC market, so why don't they deliver the product?!?
