They say it will be available with linux, do you think this means linux with AmigaDE?
BPlan were announced by Amiga Inc as making the first stand alone AmigaONE system but there doesnt seem to be any further details on the bplan web site.
Presumable even if this bplan system doesnt ship with AmigaDE we will be able to run it hosted on linux, maybe even hosted on morphos which would be very nice.

Nobody mentions it but I think it's very interesting: On the bplan page DCE is mentioned as manufacturer of the prototypes!
At least some companies in the Amiga business work together; the machine could be very interesting with MorphOS as the new MorphOS version claims to have WarpUp compatibility (I don't care about Linux/AmigaDE).

Are you kidding?! I remember when I first heard about TAOS back in '94 and thinking then that it was the first thing to come along that I could ever consider to be a "progression" from AmigaOS. Now that it's almost available and is being pitched as a replacement, I can't wait. But I certainly don't blame anyone who wants to run MorphOS on the bPlan HW. I'd also love to see that combo be able to host the DE eventually. I wonder how DE hosted on MorphOS would perform on a CSPPC@200?

This is nice news.
What would be nice are some pictures of the motherboard in production. Also some more details specs on the actual hardware would be nice - what is the northbridge being used? Why only 3 PCI slots?
But most of all, pictures...

I'm surprised that you had not heard that yet. I've seen Ralph himself state that they were working together with bplan and DCE for the AmigaONE components of the bplan offering many times. I believe that this was mentioned on ANN at least twice, once from Ralph and the other from the MorphOS site designer.

DCE ? Humm, better add some weeks/months to delivery then. No to talk bad but that
is JUSt the way it is.

In reply to Comment 8 (SimplePPC):
mmh... They say it can run MorphOS without the 68k! ;) This means the first Amiga compatible computer which does not need 68k! This is major news? Wonder what pci/agp library they are going to use? Since they are working with DCE, it may mean something similar to the libraries they are using on their PCI/AGP solution?
This is great news. If it can run morphos without 68k, then it must mean that I can run AmigaOS on a power machine! Goodbye boxer dream ;o))
Please, let's discuss this more closely, what does this mean? Running MorphOS and all, what about the Kickstart chips etc? How is this handelled?

The Boxer must be dead.
1. Reading the exhibitor list for StLouis, I find no mention of Boxer or
AntiGraviy.
2. In the Amiga personalities, Joe Torre is listed as showing an Optical
mouse.
I realise this isn't proof positive, but it is very compelling to me.
But then only TimeWillTell

In reply to Comment 9 (m0ns00n):
The difference between the Bplan product and the BoXeR would be that
the BoXeR has hardware emulation of AGA. So if you want to run AmigaOS
programs that use AGA, the Bplan product may not work. (It would be
like the Draco, but faster).
I guess in the long term Morphos could include software emulation of
AGA, similar to UAE. AFAIK there is nothing like that in it now.

In reply to Comment 11 (Don Cox):
I see AGA emulation as entirely unnecessary in new (fast) systems... anyone still coding for AGA (without including RTG support in some form as well..) is really missing the mark, and all the older stuff that fits into the AGA only category (pretty much games only) wouldn't benefit from a cpu upgrade... if you want to play A1200 games, get an A1200, they're cheap, or use UAE... it, er, works :)
