ANN tracked over 16,000 requests for pages yesterday, of which over 4000 were fraudulent, coming from one IP address. While I'm not facing the same problems amiga.org has right now, only having transferred close to 400MB on Sunday, something seems to be going wrong, since it looks like almost every request has yielded an entry in my error.log for reasons I'm not quite sure yet.

YIKES!
I hope that wasn't me!
I did keep on checking ANN a lot yesterday, because it was the only site being regularly updated.
Although I don't think I quite did 4000!

Unless you happen to work for the Australian Department of Defence, or manage to hack through one of their servers, it wasn't you.

http://www.apache.org/docs/mod/mod_access.html
basically you put a file called .htaccess in your web directory with deny, allow instructions.
Not done this but read about it when I needed to set up a password protected area.

Couldn't view any content on Saturday. The ANN header & add banner would
pop up, but no content ever appeared. Did get to listen to some of the UGN
audio stream, however. That was pretty cool.

I think it was working with Aweb, IBrowse, IE but not with netscape. It was my fault as I got a problem while updating ANN.
