From VGR website: Mr. Randy West posted some information on VillageTronic GmbH and the Voodoo add on module for the Picasso IV on comp.sys.amiga.hardware:
"Talk to a friend that lives by Villagetronic. It's offical Villagetronic Amiga is more more 80% of the Amiga workers have been laided off. There won't be a Paraglider unless they sell the prototype board which is the only one that was made."

That was a follow up to this post "The last announcement I got from Blittersoft was last summer (or last fall?) when they confirmed that the project was still going on. I got an email from them a month or so ago where saying that they removed the advertisement from their site. Since 3dfx is kind of dead, are there any chance of seeing this product come to life?"

In reply to Comment 2 (Amifan):
Perhaps those of us that bought a PicassoIV for the express
purpose of using ParaGlide?
I already had a CyberVision, but I really wanted a 3d-card
and so I sort of panicked when PIV was going out of production...
Oh well :-(

There's no point in a ParaGlider for the PIV and there hasn't been. Nowadays you might as well get yourself a PCI board and a cheap PCI GFX card. That is, if you really want to upgrade your 68K Amiga...

And games like Shogo and SoF would probably suck, and even refuse to run on a Voodoo1 card. So esentially, it's useless from the getgo.

In reply to Comment 5 (Lennart Fridén):
Show me a solution as complete as the P-IV and I will consider switching.
3rd party 3D for the P-IV anyone?

In reply to Comment 6 (Anonymous):
Shogo would run perfectly on a Voodoo 1. The fillrate of this card is a bit higher than the Permedia2, and it has all the blending modes required for Heretic II to run at full quality, so yes, not having it is a loss.
I wouldn't be particularily keen on writing drivers for it, since the Voodoo 1 hasn't got a setup stage (meaning caluclations required like with the ViRGE - not a pretty sight), but the result would have been worth it, especially since the Picasso IV was an exceptionally good card...
Best regards, Hans-Joerg.

I'm disappointed to har the news is official, but I had
honestly given up long ago. I'd have still bought one, even
with the recent popularity of designing PCI busboards. Sure,
Prometheus finally gives my A4000T hope of a PCI card, but
I'd love to have a fully decked out P4 as well. Pity they
never sold NTSC Palomas either... I wanted that thing too.

Erm, the VooDoo 1 is faster than the Permedia II. I don't know why P5 didn't use a real GFX chip to begin with, they were available even then.

In reply to Comment 10 (Tron Man):
Possibly because of the superior 2D performance of the Voodoo 1?
