[Motd] Server move, IBrowse 2.2 problems?ANN.lu

ANN was moved to a new server yesterday (twice, actually), and one or two comments were lost in the process. But what seems worse is that for quite some time I've been getting hundreds of entries in my error.log because apparently users with IBrowse 2.2 are trying to access a file called "undefined", which obviously doesn't exist. I'd appreciate if somebody with IBrowse 2.2 could give me specific feedback on what might not be working on ANN for them.

I use IB 2.2 and I can't see any obvious problems. However, the "undefined" bit often appears in URL:s generated by e.g. JavaScript drop-down link selectors with IB 2.2 (when are "webmasters" going to learn the mystery of the <A HREF=""> tag? And when will IB have functional and up-to-date JS support?), but since there's no such stuff on ANN...

Uuuhh, I hate to bring the bad news to ya, but there is no more support for Ibrowse. Hisoft tore down the support page & email.

here ANN works great. Btw, Oliver Roberts (betatester of IB2.3) did patch for V2.2
which fixes IB crashing on some links... You can contact him or download patch
from his page.
I have it installed, but never had any probs with ANN.
Cheers

I'm using IB2.2 and have no problems. Perhaps the people who do have not installed
the updated JS libs? A new set became available shortly after 2.1 was released and is
downloadable at Hisofts site.
As for any futher IB updates, I'm still hopefull it happens but admit it's not looking too good.

Still not much help I'm afraid. That's what I've already tried.
Any more clues......

There are two Yahoo Groups that exchange ideas/answers concerning Ibrowse.
One is called IBrowselist, the other just Ibrowse. Oliver frequents both groups.
They both have file areas for downloading, the patch file you seek is in the second group(Ibrowse).
To download you must join the group, but joining is no cost.
There are several files between both groups that might be of interest.

In reply to Comment 5 (djnick):
The "patch" can be easily done with a hex editor, look for the word "embed" and change it to something else, ie "embug".
Anyhow, IB is a ripoff.

I have never had any problems reading ANN with IBrowse.
Keep up the good reviews.
