Ben Yoris/Hyperion wrote: Shogo MAD is finished, shipment will start on Monday (30.04). Shogo requires an Amiga equiped with PowerPC, at least 64MB RAM, Gfx-board, CD-ROM and 400MB free harddisc space. You can get more information about Shogo here or on Hyperions Amiga pages. Please remember : piracy harms the Amiga to death. Don't copy games, unless you want that they totally disappear from the Amiga market...

Once again, the text layout didn't work...
Strange because when I post from MIE it works and not from AWeb...

That's neat guys! Keep those conversions coming! How are things going with SoF?

I hope they get Majesty out soon, since Mage Wars and others got canceled (this looks better anyways). We've been waiting a long time for this sort of game, and there is a demand-- because this would be something new for the Amiga.

As far as news items are concerned, you should always use <BR> or <P> to create line or paragraph breaks. This should be completely independent from whatever browser you're using. Notice that this is different from the comments section, where HTML tags are not necessary.

Yes Chris, I use <BR> , the preview is OK, but then when posted it's not formatted.
Strange.

Concerning SoF, it's for the moment in "stand by" mode.
We have lots of work with Majesty,Alien Nations and Freespace.

Haven't heard much about the SiN conversion of late, any news on that ?

What about Worms: Armageddon?
It was announced back in 1999...

This is good news. Too bad I am stuck at 060. I just cannot get myself to shell out
>$1000 USD for a CyberstormPPC. I have come close on numerous occasions, but knowing
the very high failure rate and inability to get boards repaired I cannot. My buddy
has 2 CSPPC cards, and each has died..It took more than 6 months each time to get
them repaired. Hopefully the Amigaone will fix this, however I'd really like a PPC
solution for this A3000 also. If CSPPC's were $500 I'd chance it, but $1000 is too
much.

I'll buy it as soon as I can afford it, and as soon as I can get the demo to run at more than 2 frames per second on my BPPC/Mediator/Voodoo3 setup...

I've tried the demo on my A1200 040/603@240 and that's a killer !
Unfortunately, I don't have the money for the needed RAM :(
Anyway guys, keep up the good work !
Denis.

With a good setup and a not too hign resolution and low details it shouldn´t be a problem. It will fly once the V3-Warp3D-driver is released, BTW

Hi!
Actually Shogo even runs great at a not-so-fast setup :) If it is at least
a PPC, and if there is enough memory to run the game, that is, of course :)
BTW: Freespace will be another game with not too high demands (Still it looks
incredible on a 640*480 3D Hardware Display !!!)

For A1200 users a Warp3D-supported graphics card is quoted as the minimum requirements. It should run faster than 2 FPS, though, even in software rendering, but you must restrict yourself to 320x240.

Hi Steffen,
Do you think that FreeSpace can be finished in June ?
So that it is released in July / August ?
What is your target date for the latest beta/demo ?
Thanks

640x480 3d hardware screen... on an Amiga (Permedia2) ?? Is that actually going to be playable on the old A1200 BPPC cards? Or do we have to stay in 320x240 or some odd inbetween screen resolution?
I'm not complaining, Shogo is incredibly smooth on my machine even now, but not much higher resolution over 320x240 and low/medium detail IIRC.
Its just getting RAM thats the problem. 80Mb soon gets eaten into when booting my machine :-/

I'll sell you my CyberstormPPC once I have a working AmigaOne. :) It was
damaged on arrival (and took ages to get fixed) but since then it's worked
fine for something like 2 years now.
Anyway, I still need more memory and a 3D card, but I just bought Shogo (along with Payback). The demo actually runs OK with software rendering once you go
down to 320x240...hard to make out distant objects though. Enough to fiddle
with while waiting for AmigaOne anyway....

In reply to Comment 17 (Budda):
I frequently cross-check my hardware renderer on the Permedia2 (I usually develop on the Voodoo), and I can assure you that it will be absolutely smooth on the Permedia 2 :-)
Of course it looks a bit better on the Voodoo, but that's not too much difference (the lens flares and engine glows look better because of the additive blending).

I bought Payback for my A3k 060 system and it kicks ass. A PPC vesrion
would really kick ass! A PPC verson should do 1024x768 easy. I'm
guessing, I'm not a programmer....but on 060 320x240 it is
sweet...640x480 is almost liveable

As a BPPC owner with 128MB, permedia2 (mediator +voodoo3 and some other nice goodies) I can tell all of you that Shogo is unbelievable playable compared to hereticII. It must be the lack of some polygon eating elf and the the new VA support of Warp3D V4. Don't know how to do a timedemo or equivalent, but it runs _very_ smooth in 640x480 8bit textures....16 bit textures will slow things down, but that could be a bandwidth problem :(

In reply to Comment 21 (redrumloa):
I don't think the hardware bandwidth of Amiga cards can handle all the screen data being sent to it for 640x480 and smooth. At least thats what I was told about Permedia2 hardware...
But maybe I'm wrong now?

In reply to Comment 17 (Budda):
As to the Freespace questions... as Freespace is a space game a lot of the graphics
is "empty space", so it runs much higher than other games. Even a 68k version
is not TOTALLY impossible (but I cannot promise anything, right now).
As to the resolution: 640x480 is the only resolution it supports. But be assured,
this really runs smooth (I'd recommend 3D Hardware for Lowend PPC Boards - like
160 MHz Boards - even then, though... and if there will be a 68k version this
one would require 3D Hardware).

In reply to Comment 20 (Luca):
This is hard to say, since there isn't any AmigaOne yet. One of the design goals for OS 4, however, is backwards compatibility. But if it doesn't run then we'll make it work:-)
However, I expect it to run very well on the AmigaOne, but we will probably release a patch anyway since there are features in the AmigaOne/OS4 combination that can be exploited to improve the experience (like VM for example).
