(Delsyd Software Homepage) We also have a link to our musician's webpage, where you can find samples of the HOD soundtrack. Development is on track, finally, and it looks like we should have a demo available in the next 2-3 months. HOD will be released for both the PPC Amiga and the PC. Check it out!

Hehe,
I think it is kind of amusing to see their logo slogan
"Keeping the world safe from Windows since 1998" and
then go and watch the screenshots.

Well, I understand using Windows to develop a 3D game editor in, but check the size of those bricks on the last screenshot! The paving slabs are gigantic as well!
I pity the bricklayer who had to carry those mothers...

I've been trying to find a better texture for those bricks.Anyway, the textures you see are not final---a lot of them are placeholders until I can get some better ones. And yes,it might be time to change our slogan... ;)

Now why would anyone want to tear down such a nice-looking city? ;-) Looks very promising, this one...

In reply to Comment 3 (Chris Kelley):
The texture is very nice, it is just scaled up _way_ too much...

I cleaned up the picture page so that it doesn't load all of the pictures at once---you can click on links to get to them now. I also threw the title theme music of HOD on my page(Mellow Groove),as well as a couple more screenshots.

Will we be getting a PAE demo as well? PAE seems like it could be one of those original (not to mention subversive) concepts that will get the atention of gamers. Games that provide unique experiences for users are what perk peoples intrest in a computer platform. This is the first I've heard of the Hackbacks project. Can we get a discription, for those of us that don't get the magazine?

A Pimpin' Ain't Easy demo should be available by the end of the year.PAE is going to be based on the Hatchbacks engine,so PAE will be released some time after HOD is finished.I want PAE to have a solid engine, and this seems like the best way to go.
Hatchbacks of Doom is a vehicle combat game where you drive heavily armed hatchbacks and try to destroy everything---other hatchbacks, buildings, etc. You've actually been hired by several city councils to demolish their downtowns,in order to make room for strip malls and shopping centers.Since hatchbacks were designed to be the ultimate downtown commuter cars, the cities believe that using hatchbacks will kill 2 birds with one stone---cheap demolition, and no more hatchbacks---which means more parking for their SUV's and minivans. It's a bit tongue in cheek, but so are all of our other game designs... :)
You earn cash for each part of a structure that you destroy, and you can use that cash to upgrade your car between levels---better handling, better engines, better weapons, etc. If you blow up another hatchback, you get to keep his cash as well. We're shooting for 10-15 different cities, with some of those cities having multiple sub-levels.If you perform well enough, you may be able to get a sponsor(ala formula one),who will provide you with extra cash between levels. There will be some end of level bosses, but not at the end of every level.
We're actually basing some levels on real towns, and the others will be fictional.A user-friendly level editor will be included,if you want to make your own cities. Also, you can set the time of day that you destroy the cities---just give HOD a time(5:00am,etc)and it automatically adjusts the light levels for that time. There will also be weather options, like rain, snow, and fog.
Before a playable demo is ready,I'll probably release a cleaned up version of the engine for testing purposes---this way I can fix bugs before the real demo is released.
