Posted by Troels Ersking on 13-May-2001 22:00 GMT | Well I have no idea whether this news is true or not.
If it is possible to make such a solution work it could increase the AmigaOS market a lot.
Looking forward to hear more about this !

PowerPC module for x86 motherboard CPU slot : Comment 3 of 8 | ANN.lu |
Posted by redrumloa on 13-May-2001 22:00 GMT | How could this be done? a board the plugs into the socket A(socket 1?) and the PPC
plugs into this board? It would have to provide at least some(most likely tons) X86
emulation to be able to work with the chipset no? Sounds like a performance dog to me.
Kludge, kludge, kludge is what I am thinking.. Then again if it replaced the bios
too it could help, no mention of that there..Still sounds like a kludge. |

Posted by Amifan on 14-May-2001 22:00 GMT | In reply to Comment 4 (Mike): You'll get trouble with the northbridge, not the southbridge unless there's lots of conversion logic onboard to convert PPC signals to x86. This will make the module kinda expensive |

Posted by Kjetil on 14-May-2001 22:00 GMT | We are not free on the Crap Amiga chips yet.
nore have we ben able to run with out the kickstart.
Or the AGA boot screen. We are not free from the zoro slots,
even if we have PCI and AGP support. We need to se a AmigaOS4.0,
The we can start think in this direction. Do you realy tink
the 604e wher ever ment to run on the 68000 bus? NO.
This is can work, butt it most be a lott better to base it on a
terd party Power Mac or an Imac. Drivers and otter isues,
When we boot and can't directly support the intel init
codes on the GFX/SCSI/IDE cards?
PS. This is news posted from common Amiga/Linux users not from P5.
Intel emulation ? |

It'll be with the creditors of the company that produced the CyberstormNG. |
