PRESS RELEASE
Ottawa Amiga Show - 2001
May 23, 2001

Amiga.info
http://www.technomages.net/amiga.info/
Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

On July 28 and 29, Amiga.info will be hosting the Ottawa Amiga Show, the first Amiga show in Canada since May 1998. The location of the show has not been settled, but as soon as that information is available, we will make it available on our website, which can be found at http://www.technomages.net/amigashow/.

Amiga Inc. has already agreed to have a presence at the show and will be on hand with announcements, demonstrating what the new OS has to offer everyone and answer questions. The Ottawa Amiga Show is the first Canadian computer show that Amiga Inc. has attended in over three years.

Ticket prices and vendor booth costs will be announced as soon as we have selected a location for the event and will be kept as low as possible.

The main focus of the show will be Amiga Inc. and the various vendors who will attend to offer Amiga hardware and software. There will also be an area set aside for user groups or individual users who would like sell or trade some Amiga equipment (for a small fee).

Ottawa is about a two hour drive west of Montreal and five hours north-east of Toronto, and about nine hours from Boston. You can also get to Ottawa by the Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport.

The current position of the Canadian dollar makes coming to Canada an inexpensive proposition for our American neighbors. At the time of this writing, $100.00 CAD = $64.92 USD and $100.00 USD = $154.04 CAD.

There will be a mailing list that you can subscribe to if you would like to be kept up to date on the show details. To subscribe, send an email to oas-subscribe@technomages.net.

Any questions can be directed to amigashow@technomages.net

Hmm, the same dates as AmiWest. Well, I'll be going to AmiWest, I'm sure
most other people will as well. Bad choice of a show date, IMHO.

Again, the big question is, will there be a working AmigOne 1200 at the show? :P

Yup, bad date. I am planning on going to the AmiWest show and that we may see a working
AmigaOne :-)

I too think that is a poor date to choose for a show as there will be the Amiwest Show. We have been at all of the Amiwest Shows (3 so far), but will probably not be at this one. When we check the website, there is not one vendor listed. When we email the people in charge we get no answer. So far it does not look like they are willing to do what it takes to get vendors there, or even asnwer simple email. We will only support Amiga people who also are willing to support us and other Amiga vendors. The less support, the less vendors to sell software and hardware when a new machine or software does come out. It is not all that hard to figure out what "support" means is it? Just my 3 cents on the subject, and may not indicate the opinion of everyone here at FWD Computing.

I am hoping that you may have a change of heart. I know that John Zacharias just recently had some
heart problems. I don't remember exactly if it was a heart attack, but it put him in the hospital. That
may be why you did not hear from them(or him). I would hope that you may try again. I just came
from the site and I see two names now.
