I won't get a nightmare cuz of this. It is unmoderated, don't forget that. People share their views here and are pert of the community. Stopping that is to stop intercommunication between Amiga users. U want that?

Hi,
The site's still butt-ugly in my opinion. :)
Ok, so the text links are identical now, but
unfortunately some of them also exceed the black
border right of them. There are so many little
things here and there which would look so much
nicer if Amiga Inc. just took their time to get
a decent company design done.
For a succeded launch (if/when they get to it),
the presentation of the company, and their
inhouse products (+ what is bundled with those)
will have to be of very good quality to be taken
seriously in todays world of computing.
Fine, go ahead and design a nice system, but
do not forget that overall design is also what
impresses the very much end user. And as far as
I know, that is the market they are aiming for.
Amiga: I understand that you are low on funds,
and that you wish to focus your develop-
ment time on getting the actual software
done.
But please, do us all a favour and get a
freaking *not home-made* design. Current
one looks bad. I'm almost ashamed of
showing my friends the amiga.com site as
an introduction to what my impression of
a great computer system is.

Actually, the site looks like it WAS done by at least a designer and not a programmer.
So it's red, that's Amiga's colour. Or would you prefer the tightly packed corporate style site of the Microsoft, Compaq or IBM sites. Its refreshing, it works, it's economical in it's use of space using the left menu/right main screen approach whilst not simplly having a straight colour column - therefore using curves softens the design, and it leads the eye (by and large) where it needs to go. But still design is a personal thing. I just wish Unitech Electronics would redesign they're site.

It's a pretty bad looking site I hate to say. It has nothing to do with the red, and everything to do with consistancy and style. The navigation looks cramped... Some sections (like Amiga Mall) have shadows while others like "Amiga One" have a shadow. Also, the sizes of these squares are not consistant, and some have an outline.... The black lines are sloppy, and the general text (content) flows right to the edge of the screen, making it look cramped. If you're going to make the text table width at 100%, make the top bar do the same thing, so the text doesn't just sit out there by itself.

I believe the Amiga.com site was originally designed for the Gateway Amiga Inc. by Ted whats-his-name, who as far as I know is a web designer by profession, not just some programmer. We can differ on our opinion of the quality of his work, but I think most mess has been made since by adding to that design by people with varying design and layout skills.
The original Amiga.com with this look (back in 1998 I believe) did look pretty nice and consistent. For a page that was designed in 1998, that is. The current site, well, would not have looked good even in 1998 - in humble opinion anyway. But I do understand that Amiga may be tight on resources (and the economy is in decline), so at the moment not doing a complete overhaul seems quite reasonable. Why they chose not to do it earlier is beyond me.
