That's neat. Seems like it could make a less expensive/more extendable hack to get ethernet support to classic hardware.
I was thinking about ressurecting my 2000 as a NetBSD/OpenBSD machine, but the X-Surf(?) is a bit pricey, really, and apparently the only SCSI<->Ethernet device supported by NetBSD is a poor design; the devices going on eBay for $5 are either different designs, or if they *would* work, the design was kludgey enough that I wouldn't want to use it. (If anyone wants to clue me on the cheapest route, I've supplied my email link on this post. I'm not even sure if my 2630 has the requisite MMUed chip to allow a *NIX to run...)
So, someone clue in the mainly-x86 guy, and possibly other confused readers; what's that ICY board?

I think it is a good idea and project.
USB is very useful : really hot plug and play.... macintosh, sooner Amiga, never Pc), simply, but not faster than SCSI...
A USB PCI card is cheaper, but the driver is difficult to produce.... on Amiga
Does anyone want to try ?

You can't link USB units to Ethernet ports.
However you can make cross communication over USB using the TCP/IP protocols.
AT lest to computers can be linked, If you have a driver.
And the TCP/IP traffic can be routed over a PC to Ethernet networks.
if the PC supports and is configured for routing traffic over USB and Ethernet.

In reply to Comment 5 (Kjetil):
Yes you can. There are adapter for USB --> Ethernet, but these will require drivers (here we go again.. *sigh*)

USB support $20 + Ethernet card for USB $50
for 2 x Ethernet 100Mb/s card for PCI is about $20,
This price is just taken form mid are.
I think is better to invest in a PCI & Ethernet cards for PCI,
If you think about what the common use of USB, and it has the limit of 9Mbs/s speed.
