James Daniels wrote: Apex Designs have released Payback Update 5. This release fixes the stability problems that were reported with Update 4 and should also work properly on Voodoo3 boards. The Warp3D support has also been accelerated slightly. There's also an updated demo available to download here. Finally, there are two updated maps (including the first one to make use of custom textures) available to download from this page.

I don't know why the links above weren't displayed as they should
be - a bug in ANN perhaps? Anyway, just click on the Apex Designs link
and follow the links from there.

In reply to Comment 3 (the man in the shadows):
They are, but the "<" symbols got changed to "<", so although they display fine, they wont be recognised as the start of the HREF statement.

In reply to Comment 4 (Steve):
Yes, I typed them as normal, but the 'add news item' script changed
them to &lt - except the first one for some strange reason. I
hope you've all managed to get the page anyway. :)

Ah, it's fixed - thanks Christian!
(At least, I assume it was you. :)

Yep, that was me. :)
The problem is that my HTML parser right now is very, very picky. A HREF will only work if in uppercase and exactly the same format (ie. <A HREF="...">...</A>

And Payback is really fixed, it works OK with Prometheus/Voodoo3.
Thx, at last it is playable with nice GFX!

Works, nice, great.
The textures are still messed up most of the time when I press Amiga-M, but that's a Warp3D feature I guess.
(I'm sure I'm gonna get flamed for that :) - haven't found the time/courage to write a detailed bug report)
And err, does Payback use triple-buffering ? I could do with a little bit less jerkyness ;)

In reply to Comment 9 (StAn):
No, it doesn't use triple buffering. However, it doesn't wait for the
vertical blank so triple buffering wouldn't increase the framerate, it
would just use up more GFX RAM. As for speed, I suggest you stick to
non-rotating mode unless you've got a really kick-ass system. Also,
some levels are more efficiently designed than others - I've found the
best is Corona City (played with the rain off - i.e. on the final
level of the game or in multiplayer mode). I get near 30 fps on my
240Mhz 603e & BVision.

The last Demo I tried worked pretty well with my CSPPC @ 200 & Picasso 4/P96.
I'm pretty impressed between the 68K & PPC version. Wow! The game is a LOT
more enjoyable with WarpOS support, & even Picasso 4! ;)
