>I know there were way more A1200s sold then A4000s.
However, I wonder how many A1200s were upgraded to
PPC machines compared to A4000s with PPCs.
Well we'll never know but considering Blizzards
being much cheaper than CPPC i suspect there are
a lot more Blizzards out there, and also, as you said,
there are more 1200s. :)
From what I can tell, there might be a number
of reasons why they won't release OS4.0 for the
A1200BPPC. 1) Technical issues with the BPPC itself
2) Competition with the AmigaOne 3) Possibly not
that many A1200BPPC still in use compared to the
number of A4000s out there with suppirior PPC cards.
4) They will release it at some point but they just
haven't announced it yet (possible, but unlikely).
1) that can be solved...I think.
2) Yeah It's that I suppose considering the absence of A1/4000
3) Don't think so.
4) Yep.

I can't remembre on wich mailing list I read that but according to someone the AmigaOS4.0 will be available on 'CyberStormPPC accelerator for the A3/4000' because it was the development platform.
It makes sense.
I don't mind if I can't have OS4.0 for my BPPC 1200 if it could help AOne be out faster...
Juste check those mailing list (maybe you will find the post) :

The only Z3 board available for the A1200 to my knowledge was the Micronik one, and it's true that with an adaptor, you could use an A4k accelerator (in fact, the Zorro board would only operate in Z2 mode until the CPU adaptor and A4k accelerator were added). Unfortunately Micronik jumped out of the Amiga market and their A1200 Z3 board is no longer made.
It was a shame but they were planning a version of the Z3 board for the A1200 with active PCI slots, and even had a working prototype board that I saw running in Koln around 3 years ago. Unfortunately it never materialised, and I only discovered afterwards that this PCI solution was a bit of a hack and there were major limitations to it.

My mistake.I didn't mean that it had no cache.I just remember reading a while ago that if it had a `proper L2 cache`(don't ask me what that is,I don't know,I just remember reading it)then the performance of the boards would have been better.Still I'd love a Bppc to tide me over till either the Shark+ or A1 is available(running an 060@64mhz)
