"ScummVM is an interpreter for the great old LucasArts SCUMM (Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion) adventures. Games currently reported to work include the Amiga classics The Secret of Monkey Island, Monkey Island II: LeChuck's Revenge and Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, plus Day of the Tentacle and (very incomplete - just for a first look) my own favorite Sam & Max Hit the Road, which have never been available on the Amiga. The ScummVM team is apparently working on support of The Dig and Full Throttle as well."

Any chance of an AmigaOS/m68k port? It would be nice to be able to play the old games (plus Sam & Max!) without turning multitasking off and looking at a PAL screen.

It shouldn't be too hard to recompile it for 68k... as it is a GPL project and AFAIK it's easy to port things between MorphOS<--->AmigaOS a 68k port would arrive soon...

In reply to Comment 9 (Iggy Drougge):
I did the MorphOS version.
Indeed I tried to create an Amiga version first, but it kept crashing e.g. Monkey Island 2 during the intro when the monkeys start to dance while the same code works fine unmodified under MorphOS. Maybe it's a compiler error, but I don't have another C++ compiler installed to try it with another one. And to be honest, I think the Amiga has had its time and I'd rather spend my time porting more stuff to MorphOS than go looking for a crash that may be a compiler fault.
Somebody contacted me and said he wanted to build an Amiga version, so maybe you just wait for that.

as: "What has ann.lu todo with MorphOS?!". Maybe he even didn't know

Yet Linux also runs on Amigas and Linux ports aren't announced here either. Nor should MorphOS ports. I posted the first post here and it was indeed not an advert but a big CLUE to the poster - MorphOS news on MorphOS news sites (MNN anyone?) and Amiga news on Amiga news sites.

In reply to Comment 20 (David Scheibler):
You are right there is (but not often!) newspostings about Apus, qnx etc. But only larger announcements or news. With Morphos it is diffrent, it's every little port, every little thing that needs to get mentioned. And whats even worse, lots of the Morphos guys just have to post negative comments on every AmigaOS related news that gets posted here.
Why can't you just stop posting comments about a system you won't use anyway, you will never see me flame anything on www.morphos-news.de, so why do you guys have to do it here?
Anyway as I said Morphos-news.de is a nice site......PLEASE use it.

In reply to Comment 21 (Troels E):
The same way some guys always post comments when MorphOS news appear?
And most of the stuff here on ann.lu about MorphOS *is* major stuff.
Not all news is posted and if would only read ann then you don't get
most of the MorphOS announcements (like the commercial game ports).
If you don't like MorphOS news just don't read them.

And plase notice also that this MorphOS news wasn't posted in the
unmoderated section but was officially done by a ann.lu-moderator...
I think Christian choses what he wants here and I have never saw him
saying that MorphOS news isn't welcome on ann.lu.

Only because there's rarely any Amiga related Linux news these days. Amigas make poor Linux machines by comparison to x86 or Macs.
> Nor should MorphOS ports.
Perhaps you should take your head out of whatever cavity you've stuck it in and think. MorphOS currently runs on Amiga hardware, therefore it is Amiga news.
Moreover, this particular news item is of interest to AmigaOS users too. ScummVM is open source and based on SDL, so it means a port to AmigaOS should be possible too with a little work.
I wish people would stop being so bloody xenophobic.

Well, Windows and Linux runs on the same hardware, why don't they post the latest Linux news on Microsoft.com, or even better; Windows update! ;-)
It's just the BMF's who won't face the fact that MorphOS isn't Amiga...

In reply to Comment 25 (Samface):
At the moment public versions on MorphOS run ONLY on Amigas. I would consider it very much Amiga news. As for the future, MorphOS is also very close to AmigaOS in certain ways, such as API compatibility so there certain will be gray areas here even when it does run on non-Amiga hardware. MorphOS also has very strong roots within the Amiga community, unlike e.g. Linux. Why not let these things co-exist instead of forcing MorphOS out Amiga land?
ScummVM port for MorphOS : Comment 27 of 40ANN.lu

In reply to Comment 25 (Samface):
Because - and I'm not going to stoop as low as you and call you names - it is the *Windows* update. A Linux site is a *Linux* site. Neither is called the "PC update", see?
And yes, we have magazines like PC Plus around, and yes, they *do* cover Linux and sometimes other x86 operating systems, as well as Windows.
I repeat, for the hard of understanding: ANN is "Amiga Network News", not "AmigaOS Network News".
And no, I'm not any sort of MorphOS supporter, and certainly don't think it has any right to call itself "AmigaOS" as some claim. However, I'm equally fed up with the Amiga Fundamentalist Faction rattling their sabres and howling at the moon.
Instead of screaming "BAF" and "heretic", why don't you guys try to persuade someone to do an AmigaOS port of ScummVM?

It would be great if that ScummVM would be ported to m68k and OS4 too. I would like to play eg. MonkeyInsland on RTG screen. Damn that would be great, please port that to m68k too !!!

The reason why I post MorphOS related items is that clearly a considerable portion of ANN readers have shown an interest in seeing them here (there aren't any english-language MOS news sites that I know of). It's got nothing to do with politics, and everything to do with providing service to the readers. Oh why can't you people give this tedious MOS vs. AmigaOS debate a rest already?
For the record, I'm neither pro-MOS or pro-Amiga, and have no plans to buy/use either MOS or AmigaOS4 in the foreseeable future.

Hey, don't you know that Morphos' API is almost identical to Amigaos' API ?
So, do you mean that an amigaos coder doesn't know anything about coding ?
Inform yourself before insulting anything...

There is no reason supporting something Amiga will go after soon anyway.
I think it's only fair that MorphOS news is kept on MorphOS sites and only truly major news like "Pegasos board for sale", "MorphOS team ordered by court to withdraw operating system" and the like is posted (for people who are sarcasm-impaired: the examples were a joke, but useful examples anyway ;))
