"It's an exciting new year for Amiga Expo as we've begun 2002 by signing up a brand new bunch of exhibitors and speakers for the show."

Exhibitors MAME (Multi Arcade Machine Emulator) developer Arcade-in-a-Box will be exhibiting their all-in-one solution for create a home arcade experience.

Video Hardware will be exhibiting and demoing Newtek's Video Toaster[2] and the latest Lightwave.

Extreme Corporation will be showing Amiga Extreme - their new AmigaOS XL Amiga solution.

Ideas2Reality will be showing the Reality Station and their line of Amiga, PPC and x86 solutions.

FWD Computing will have their line of CDROMS for Amiga, Linux and Windows for sale at the show.

Speakers
We'll have speakers showing MAME products, video editing solutions, Amiga advancements, classic computer and game celebrities and much more.

Banquet
We plan to host a celebrity panel at our banquet discussing the future of computing across many platforms. Be served wonderful food in a festive atmosphere amongst your fellow enthusiasts and hear about what's to come!

Free Exhibit Space
There is also a limited amount of space available, at no charge, to anyone interested in exhibiting their MAME or arcade game cabinets at the show. People interested in exhibiting classic computers and console game machines are also invited to take advantage of this free display space. You must contact us immediately if you'd like to participate.

why demo their products at an Amiga Expo?
How about demoing an AmigaPPC version of LW?

Maybe it's because there will be alot of Amiga Lightwave users they can poach?
The Amiga isn't a very attractive platform for comercial developers of that size anymore ( lack of hardware, lack of good reputation etc ).

Showing Newtek products is kosher with us because they've never abandoned their Amiga user base. Even up to last year I saw them STILL repairing DigiView modules! Newtek is good people in my book and a lot of Amiga/Toaster people are going to want to see the next generation of the Video Toaster no matter what platform it's on.
Honestly, this show is bringing the spirit of the Amiga towards multiple platforms. Some things will be running under Windows (even AmigaDE for that matter!) and there will also be a LOT of new Amiga stuff at this show.

If it was that, there would soon be millions of $ to spend also on the OS R&D. ;-)
(or then AmigaInc would just get bought by someone)
IMO: "a LOT" could be something like: more DE games, more OS games, MorphOS commercial release, new Z2 card (USB?), new pressreleases, ... also note that "a LOT" is somewhat relative term... and also "Amiga stuff" seems to be a relative term sometimes. ;-)

Well AMOS has more functionality then AmigaDE at this point, give AmigaDE a few years and maybe it will stack up more favorably with AMOS <g>

personally i would like to thank kermit for sticking with the amiga community all these years and with imagefx. he's going to a lot of trouble to organise the show and the exhibition lineup is the best for any amiga show in the last three years.
now we only need the pegasos and morph there for the amiga spirit to be complete at the show ;)

Well, I guess there was a bit of humor intended there. :-) But who says nobody ever displayed AMOS at shows? It was a prominent product at its time. That time just was ten years ago. That, probably, was a major point in the sarcasm presented as well...
I digress:
Comparing AmigaDE and AMOS themselves is of course silly, but the general quality of current AmigaDE games (and the abilities of the current intent APIs) and those made for AMOS is certainly fertile ground for some discussion - although I'm sure none was intended.
AMOS was just used as a general term for something of "less than commercial" quality referring to the fact that software for AMOS often was due to its nature made by hobbyists. That in itself says nothing bad about AMOS (although it did have its rough spots), since that is what it was intended to do - it was a home creators' kit.
On the other hand, that is not what the AmigaDE is supposed to be, so the current performance certainly leaves something to be desired.
