Read the rest of the press release below.

Tao is rapidly becoming a world leader in enabling multimedia applications across all wired and wireless consumer electronic devices. The appointment of leading industry figures, such as Muir, is a testament to the growth and success of the company.

During 2001 Tao significantly strengthened its management team with the appointment of Robert Sroka as CEO, Dr Paddy Byers as CTO, Shelly Askew as Legal Director, Douglas Goodwin as Business Development Director, Mike Foss as Programmes Director and now Douglas Muir as CFO.

Former Sun Microsystems President, Dr Alan Baratz, joined the Group Board as a Non-Executive Director.

Francis Charig, Executive Chairman of Tao Group said, "Douglas represents yet another high calibre member to join Tao's management team and his strengths and skillsets are critical for us as we expand on the international stage. Having Douglas join us from such a senior position at Vodafone underlines both the potential of this company and its ability to attract the very best."

In 2001, major blue chip manufacturers including Sharp, JVC and Kyocera established the Open Contents Platform Association (OCPA) to highlight Tao's intent multimedia platform and achieve global standardisation of the technology.
