i'm sure the 68k is way to slow to use in decoding divx streams..
some time ago the Amp author though even the 603/604 wasn't capable of
decoding divx...but softcinema manages the vcd resolution of divx fine

Why would the guys of SoftCinema make an x86 version? I don't want to bash anything/anyone here, but i don't see the need for it (considering the alternatives available on x86, like Media Player <don't shoot me plz ^_^>)
Anyways, i hope this'll run on AOS4, it should be pretty snappy on a G3 :)

Media Player doesn't run on AmigaOS. Not everyone has Windows on
their Amithlon machines.
There is a market for good 68k media players.
68k Frogger works very well on Amithlon.

Yeh it's starting to appear. AHI, MagicMenu, and a few others. Considering Amithlon's
short release time it's not doing too bad. How long was it after PPC boards were
released did it take for PPC software to appear ?

Please don't shoot me ?? Sorry ..you need to be shot.
Last time I heard MicroSoft didn't make Windows Media Player for anything but Windows. And bugger me, if windows products don't run on Amiga OS.
Cheers :-)

I don't believe anyone has an x86 machine with Amithlon only. If they have one, they have more than one PC, and some other is running windows.

I am now the proud owner of an Amithlon only AMD1700 system. Windows is no where to be seen.
I am, however, considering buying a hdd to install linux on - as it seems the x86 amithlon cross-compiler requires a linux distribution to generate the Amiga binaries :-/ - currently anyway.

What does your belief have to do with anything? Have you ever
considered asking the question before forming an opinion?
For the record --
I've got two PCs here one kicking Amithlon, the other running
Linux... oh, and there's an old 486 running OpenBSD.

"I don't believe anyone has an x86 machine with Amithlon only. If they have one, they have

That's the arrangement here. One A4000, one Amithlon computer (nothing
else on it), on WinNT computer, and an aging A2000. All networked.
The next one will be another Linux machine - I cannibalised an old
Linux machine for Amithlon.

Media Player exists for Mac, albeit it's limited.
But there are others aswell, doesn't linux have any decent players? ;)
Besides, if the guys of SoftCinema were to make an x86 version, i'd support it aswell, just don't see the need, sorry :)

Do you really think Amithlon users like to reboot into Windows too play a video clip?
Besides, 99% of the other Amiga users can also just play those clips better on their PC running Windows, Linux or whatever.
