Mr. Knaebel announced more news for next week.

What the hell is Veselia smoking? $695USD for the AmigaOne MB when I can buy one from the maker, Eyetech for $450 USD?
The Pegasos on the other hand is claimed to be a dual CPU MB. It has only 1 CPU slot though. What company makes a dual PPC CPU card for this slot? MorphOS can utilize dual CPUs?

Hmm, I wonder what they mean by advertising the A1G3-SE on preorder with Linux and UAE... That's what Eyetech are gonna deliver with the developer version, the main production run aren't gonna happen until AOS4 is sorted, right? I would take both these preorder options with a pinch of salt.

with all due respect, 695EUR does not equal 695USD. It's more like 610USD. Still, that's a lot of overhead...

Change "Währung" to USD it will tell you: $613.62.
This should be a "final" board not one from the developer-
production-run, and converting over two currencys (Pound->
Euro->USD) may be a source of error.
The Pegasos will only take cpu-modules specially made for it
as there is no (open) standard for PPC-cpu-modules. If you
want dual-cpu you got to buy one module with two cpus.
According to R.S. himself MorphOS is basiclly prepared for
dual-cpu, but its not yet implemented.

I think it's because you have to buy OS4 seperately. For example KDH does advert the a1 together with OS4 for 777EUR.

In reply to Comment 4 (Ole-Egil Hvitmyren):
My mistake, I meant $613.62 which still seems high. I also wasn't thinking of VAT which I'd not have to pay. It is roughly $515 without VAT. This is closer to Eyetech's price for a final end user board, but way over the developer board. Veselia isn't making this very clear. Oh well, at least this is more like it.
BTW you have to dig pretty deep on their site to find that VAT is included in the stated price.
"You don't have to pay the German VAT included in our prices. Please deduct 16% to get your correct pricing. There will be additional national taxes and/or custom fees depending on the type/value of the ordered items."
Is it me or did the Pegasos cost drop after the AmigaOne pricing was announced?

As KDH/Vesalia seem to sell the developer board of the AmigaOne G3-SE (thus
including Linux/UAE) where exactly is the 10% off? (developer board is 540 ex
VAT, suggested retail quoting Eyetech. German tax rate is 16%, this makes it ¤
626,40 + ¤70 for shipping from England?? :-/ )
For comparison: Ordering directly from Eyetech would be UKP 315 (ex VAT) +
shipping UKP15/¤24(?)UKP 330 -> ¤ 537 + 16% = ¤ 623, which would be the prize
suggested by Eyetech also..
So, where to order when you are located in Germany ? :)
From the KDH shop it seems like they are offering the Pegasos and the processors
seperately at least there is no CPU mentioned within the description.
The board is ¤ 650, no procs yet..?

So the G3/400 and G3/600 sell at the same prize? If this would be the same with
a G3/600 and a G4/1000 I would know which one to order. ;-)
In effect this is a reduction of about the difference between a G3/400 vs G3/600. :)

It seems that it wasn't and that it still isn't clear what processor you'll get for 650EUR. What's known is that you'll get at least a G3 600MHz.
At first Vesalia didn't have the processor speed in their advert, too. KDH just didn't update their website yet.

This could be the place where BPlan could win
this competion as its probraly easier to replace
the G3-modul with a G4 one, as a complete re-

Also BPlan have developed that board by themself
while Eyetech just bought a allready existing
design.
The G4-Pegasos could be out this summer.

There is a Sonnet G4 400 Mhz/ 1 Mb zif module installed in it.
Will it be the end user board have such a zif ?
Will the >500 Mhz G4 be available soon ?

" I don't buy AmigaOne because:

*I did notice the smiley, but as you don't know if Eyetech pays Amiga for "the name" the first argument is far out.
*As Morphos fans have pointed out on several occasions, the Escena development was beeing done by one mancheap development... I could say I don't want the Pegasos beacuse it has been underway for years, this slow development must have cost a fortune, I don't want to pay extra for that:-)
*What choice of CPU's have you got with the Pegasos board?
*When did Hyperion reccomend Pegasos over A1???
Actually think both machines will sell surprisingly well, I have noticed a LOT of interest from PC users and know several ex-amiga users that will buy an AmigaOne....

1) I think it was announced that a complete system, incl motherboard,
cpu, everything else including case, would cost EUR 1000. So it
doesn't seem like a price reduction.
2) I'm also fairly sure that it has never been specified exactly what
MHz CPU will be included in the price. This seems logical since CPU
prices have a tendency to drop with time. This probably explains the
change from 400 to 600 MHz. Maybe if it's delayed another few months,
we'll get a 1GHz unit. Let's hope? ;)

just my thinking....my a1200 now have 060/50mhz and boots os3.9, now
i get AmigaOne with a G3 @ 600mhz, and os ported to run native....
I just imagine a fresh installed OS4 and those new IDE ports that transfers,
what ? 10/20 MB/s .....man, the os will boot up even before my monitor have
managed to warm up and start pumping the beam :)
My needs are filled with this board, so i buy it, and maybe others will too.
i just don't see point of all the bitchin about faster MHZ and G4's, if one
want the fastest cpu/mobo in the world, i think the pc/x86 world are the leaders
at the moment...but I think its bad to just raise the MHZ all the time and add a bigger
fan :) but ofcoz... people will always want the one with the bigger number printed on,
but i prefer a cpu without a fan...
BTW, how 'faster' is a G3@600 compared to my 060/50 ? 100x ?
