Gee, what a suprise!
Every single time such a poll is mentioned on Amiga sites, the option relating to Amiga is always in first place. I wonder...

Well, every year Jay almost makes it... But since some of the most famous pioneers have been elected (they all had their fans--like with Jay), he might actually make it in. It's not a conspiracy or anything--this vote gets plenty of publicity throughout the computer world.

Yes, the rigging of polls makes "the community" look even more pathetic than it already is, with the most recent example being linux.com trying to make some demographics of their visitors only to have the results destroyed by moron "Amigans" (and Mac zealots too, apparently). Oh well, any publicity is good publicity... :-P
This Computer Hall of Fame voting is different though. Jay Miner really deserves a place there, due to his accomplishments and the impact his work had on the computer industry, not just because he was an Amiga icon, and the poll is aimed at all Internet users, not only at the visitors of a specific site.

Yeah, you can say that again. I just saw an article about it on this weeks InfoWorld. InfoWorld is a magazine most CTOs subscribe to (cause it's free for them). The trends in that magazine have so much pull they can shift the market from one side to another in just a week with some of their articles. If you are a programmer or wanting to look into what's hot & what's not in the computing world, skip the other mags and check out InfoWorld. Asside from InfoWorld, I've also seen information posted on Linux sites as well as some Mac sites. IMHO Jay Minor should have been in the inuctees back in 1997 when their web site was put online but honestly should have been considered by the board before they started offering web site ballot based results...
Many Amiga zealots have been known to be ballot box stuffers, remember the 438,000+ votes cast for which PPC kernel was better? I think the ballot stuffers have lightened up a bit. In all honesty online voting booths are about as accurate as the florida electorial colleges... 8^)
Why do I all of sudden have the feeling of butterfly ballots in my stomach.

Is any online collection of zealots any different though? Even if you
do manage to fix it so that everyone can vote only once, perharps
Amiga owners are more "enthusiatic" about their systems to want to
take part.

While I find most "Fav. OS" polls silly... This isn't rigging in this case, as this is what happens everytime this election has happened (and each time people who vote for Jay don't have enough votes). With people like Steve Jobbs already in, in only makes since that Jay Miner would have lots of votes; I wouldn't call that rigging.
Oh well I don't really care who wins.

Uh, well, that's what I just said in the comment you replied to.
Also, only one vote from each e-mail address is counted in this case.
