Posted by Ole-Egil Hvitmyren on 04-Apr-2002 14:19 GMT | I wonder whether the reason my catweasel doesn't work is the catweasel or the clock port. I really really want to try out the subway. |

to fix the problem. |

One function with my Delfina1200 (which rulez anyway :-).
The other no.
Guess what ? They are not equal.

Posted by zorro on 05-Apr-2002 09:50 GMT | But, but, but, but :
To grab the dev-pack, you have to register.
I see this too often in the Amiga world. That is unfair because headers files for a device or a library have to be delivered on Aminet. Why ? To permit blind dev, to permit transform to other langages (think fd2module for Amiga-E) and to permit debugging (as european, I can reverse it, for fair use or inter-operability).
In times where OpenSource movment grow up, Amigans take the wrong way with such methods.
Think of mediator dev-pack too.
It is dangerous, because, as p5 dive yesterday (68060.library), you will be let without the possibility to upgrade buggy softs. |

Posted by Michael Böhmer on 05-Apr-2002 10:21 GMT | Hi Zorro,
registering is not to offend people. We want to know where people are working with our USB stack developer kit. Without registering, we wouldn't be able to focus our work on things other programmers don't do. So we can avoid double efforts.
You will get the developer release for free after registration.
Regarding bugs: even with developer kit, you won't be able to get into the deeper hardware driver structure. You have an API to work with, but hardware accesses (where most of bugs happen) are exclusively made by the stack.
There's a lot of detailed knowledge necessary (including IC manufacturer docs) to understand the way hardware accesses are made. Changing things there without that knowledge will certainly lead to buggy software.
I don't understand your problem with registering. Maybe we can discuss this by mail. Just write me, and I will explain you the reasons. |

Posted by gz on 05-Apr-2002 12:19 GMT | WHEEE! Highway rulz! :) Gonna get me some.
It's incredible to see how ten year old hardware is updated with new features which weren't even dreamed of when amiga was first conceived. |

OpenSource fanatism ? :-)
Be sure that I will registry if I was about to use it.
OpenSource, yes, but pirat no.
Felicitations for the cards. Big work in deed, I can figure the hard work for this usb-stack.
I remember having mailed you (far from now) about ethernet+usb, and you responded fast. I know that you have good intentions. Feel free to mail me. |

Posted by Chris Hodges on 05-Apr-2002 14:13 GMT | In reply to Comment 7 (zorro): Michael already explained the main reasons of registering (well, it's actually
just sending a mail "i want the sdk" and you'll get it), but forgot the most
important one: the Poseidon stack is not yet finished, there are features
added every day. Registering allows me to inform the developers about changes
made (and e.g. send updates of binaries and include files). On the other hand,
the developer should also give feedback on missing features or bugs, so this
is a dynamic process.
You see, this is not just an obstacle for potential developers, but very
sensible to have an overview of the developers envolved.
Best regards,
Chris Hodges |

Please read again my comment: I'm referring to the XSurf, a Zorro2 card.
It's plugged into an A4000, and it promised to deliver working Clockports, which it doesn't.
Since the newer products from Individual do work correctly with the SubWay, it's their fault. |
