Thomas Richter has released an update for the V45.7 shell in OS3.9/BB2. Taken from the ReadMe :
Version 45.8:
Fixed handling of backticks within comments. They are now properly ignored.

Fixed handling of equal-signs within arguments. They are now considered similar to blank spaces and consider following double-quotes as function, not as literal.

Thanks on behalf of the Amiga community for this Thor!
So will there ever be an OS3.9-BB3 which incorporates these changes, and the other bugs which have been reported since the release of BB2?

That probably all depends on the sales of the AmigaOS XL package. I don't think there are many OS 3.9 CD's sold for hardware Amiga's anymore. Anyone that wanted one probably allready has one.

From the readme:
Some frequently asked questions:
Q: How official is this distribution?
A: As official as I could make it. There will be no future BB for Os 3.9,
but I still wanted to provide an update. Hence, here we go. Both, Amiga
and H&P agreed to my conditions, therefore this patch is fully legal.

It's friday and I managed to mess this up :)
Anyone who gets a failed setpatch at reboot, just put in loadwb at the prompt say no to the question about env: and do over.
The bit about BB2 being present means it has previously been installed, NOT that you need it unpacked in the same directory.
This could have been made clearer.
All's fine now :)

Operations generally seem to have been majorly speeded up, this is an incredible patch.
A massive thank you!

I wonder how long it will take before someone accuses
AInc of trying to kill the market by not making boing
bags for MOS?

Do you think thy will make priority on the 68k slow stuff, no way.
there is no more OS 3.9 when OS 4.0 is on the marked,
you most accept the clock and dates,
the clock tick to the future they don't stop when ever you like it to.

That's not very helpful, I can't run OS4.0, I don't have PowerPC chip! If they make OS4.0 for 680x0 I will buy it, otherwise I will be staying with OS3.9. So further Boing Bags for 3.9 are quite important.

Important enough to buy new hardware? I hope so.
You can't expect them to just keep developing for 68k forever.
