and seeing the 2mb chipmem and fastmem, am guessing this is running on a CyberstormPPC (or maybe even a BlizzrdPPC). And if either are the case, I'm well happy :-)

Well, not bad. But nothing that rocks me off my shoes. I hope we will see some really new features when OS4 is released to the public...

Looks pretty interesting!! I like how these new features will be "properly implemented" and not 3rd party add-ons!
Thanks Hyperion!

It's a little hard to know what to say... Fortuantely they havent fu*ked up the style too much (odd gadget types and colours though), but if it's working on a PPC then thats a good start.
And if it run on my BlizzPPC then yeah, that's great.

My last post sounded too harsh, They could have made something horrible... but they have really kept the style pretty good (Still the gadgets and colours are odd to me).

They are probably (sp?) just showing off the number off colors one can/could use for the windows/menu.. Wouldn't be any good if they only use blue colors.. (Ok, I thought XP looked like a playground, but these screens look like kindergarden :)

Especially liked the transparent menu.
It really looked like MagicMenu.

Could someone verify the rumour: I heard that these shots were taken
on system running on 68k, and no PPC at all...
Also, I personally find the look rather bad (bad design, made by a
coder perhaps?). Really nothing new to visual appearance compared
to OS 3.1 + 3rd party patches. But this is just the my opinion.

The visual look isn't important for a start. Only features are.
And Massimo added some interresting things, don't you think ?
Let's pray the implementation is ok, now :)

As they say on the pages, that look is not the final look.
It is so colourful and the bitmaps are crap, but it shows you what the new interface is capable of doing - all you need to do is use decent bitmaps, or a nice palette.
I am sure that the default OS4 look will be a lot more conservative than that look. That is a vile greeny colour! :)

Interresting indeed. I just wonder when we'll see it run on PPC.

The new feature is that the look is entirely customizable. You might like these shots or you might not, but what's important is that at the end your computer will look the way *you* want

I'm surprise nobody has made comment on the one other obvious new feature (other
than the MagicMenu-like menus), that being the ability to drag your windows off
physical workbench (and I don't think it's just by using a virtual screen size
that's bigger than the physical screen size since there are windows crossing the
workbench title bar and right side of the screen.

Hmm looks like my amiga :) , but the windows etc look like they`ll be right at hi res ( 3.x window bottom bar is wrecked if u use a monitor and no visual prefs).
Decent bitmaps , get rid of the gadget borders and sort the colours out and all will be good :)
Oh yer , need some sorta easy user task management / switching ... I like windowmakers iconifying and sticking um in the corner u select in prefs , need that but so that they flash when something happens like a new msg in amirc or <insert im client here>. or at the very least the ability to iconify every prog not just mui progs and ones that have the function :).
/me is wondering if click2front is on by default ?

It would be superkewl if they would allow skins for windows and menus
(I have heard some talk about this but I don't know for sure)
Anyway, as a response it would be nice to see decent pics of morphOS so we could compare how customizable these 2 OS's are currently.

I just hope the Dark Edges colour is also going to be customisable. (And that the default look won't be the original default.)

Looks pretty, well, pretty!
I love the round-corner look to one of the menu options. The reconfigurability of the GUI sounds promising, too.
(Dunno what McEwen is bleating on about "recent flurry of press releases about AA" - the most recent one was 2 weeks ago. Still, McEwen never did know what was going on, and at least the screenshots are up on Hyperion's site for us to enjoy, which is a good thing).
Here's hoping for some interesting new OSes in a few weeks then!

When looking at the screenshot of Intuition #1, I notice Hyperion have already
included some OS3.9 functionalities (If I recall correctly, they didn't have access to
the modifications made by H&P) - that "Find" menu item was not in Workbench before
OS3.9. Ben did say he made separate deals with the various third-party contributers
of OS3.9 for OS4.0, and this is the first obvious result (I haven't scrutinized
the other pics though)..;-)

Looks good. Good job guys. But could you *please* design the web page better, it looks like shite.
BTW, why the alpha blended menus? That makes it hard to read in places.
