Sounds like a case of ghost pages. Ghost pages are pages that have been put online without the authorization to publish the information. It's a major problem with large corporations and can be a problem if the information has NDA statements mixed in. Great interview, nice to see some Ami3D stuff out in the public light.

Fleecy is right, what he's saying is pretty much: who cares about the rumors?
There have been rumors for a long time saying the source code of OS3.0/3.1 were lost, nothing further from the truth.

Since Fleecy seems to have had some trouble answering some of the questions without getting distracted, allow me to help him...
Q. "How has sales been?"
Really scarily bad. Like 'Hyperion Linux ports' bad.
Q. "Now, it seems that Sharp have selected another JavaVM for their PDA. What's going on?"
Our timetables were incompatible. Theirs said "Ship 2002" and ours said "Ask Again Later", so we shook it again and it said "Don't count on it"
Q. "Amiga had given the impression that OS4 and the Amiga One was more or less on schedule. Any comments?"
I still can't believe you fell for it. I was having a lot of trouble keeping a straight face. At one point a user asked me some technical question and I remember thinking "PowerPC? What the hell does that have to do with Amiga?" but I think I must have bluffed through it pretty well.
The situation in October was incredible, we should have been rumbled at the end of September, but we just shut right up and the users made up their own excuses for four weeks.

Bullshit time again...
3) There's a rumour going around that Amiga don't have access to the source code for OS3.9. Is that correct?
There are rumours that Elvis works in a Wal Mart in Wyoming, that the moon is made of cheese and that Tony Blair wears a wig. Rumours are what they say they are.
Come on Fleecy. Hyperion doesn't have access to these sources and OS 4 will never be ready in may 2k2. Maybe in may 2k3, if the TeronCX is debugged...
4) When the OS4.x project was announced, OS5 was said to be ready late 2002. Is this still the target date for OS5? If not, when? Has development started?
Given the burn we all got over the 01 November situation, I don't think it would be responsible anymore to say anything beyond we are committed to the future of the AmigaOS.
Nice try. Amiga Inc. never coded a line for OS 4, H&P did nothing and Hyperion had to do it by themselves or die. Unfortunately, this is far too late.
People, do not expect Amiga OS on a CSPPC before the end of the year, with a bit of luck.

Dear Troels,
I understand that you may feel frustrated. But I decided to speak as the bullshit by Amiga Inc. is getting more and more obvious, and the announces for an OS 4 in may are not less absurd.
Have you thought that maybe I could know what I'm talking about ? Is it possible for you that maybe I know more about these things than you do ? I'm afraid you eliminated too quickly this possibility.
If I speak today, it's not to flame Hyperion/A Inc./Eyetech etc... It's just that I know what's behind the wall, and I see the huge lies being told to Amiga users. And I can't remain silent. Please note that I'm not more confident with bPlan and the Pegasos/Morphos couple, before I get accused of Morphos propaganda.
I repeat, despite the good and unfortunately solo efforts by Hyperion, there will be no Amiga OS 4 in May, nor in June, no this summer, nor this fall on the AmigaOne. Maybe on CSPPC before the end of year. This is for technological, engineering and time reasons, impossible otherwise. Time will tell, you'll see. First evidence end of may when nothing will be released.
And it's not Amiga DE that will get some money back into the house.

Let's see. Screenshots of OS4 already running native on a PPC accelerated system, Hyperion stateing that it's working in beta with a few finishes needed, Eyetech distributing the motherboards to developers... I think things are actually being done here Turrican. You perhaps know that those boards are all hoaxes and Hyperion hasnt got a single line of code written?
>Have you thought that maybe I could know what I'm talking about ? Is it possible for you that maybe I know more about these things than you do ? I'm afraid you eliminated too quickly this possibility.
Ok, back it up with facts.

Yeah, i dont much care for the MorphOS crew either. The hardware looks promising but given track records and the current situation with Hyperion being denyed dev boards, well.. why waste my money on something that wont run our OS? But at least give some facts from 'behind the wall' before you go spouting. Otherwise your just blowing steam here and who will pay any attention to that? Let's hear your inside info.

Well, i can believe that the beta might be delayed untill june some time, but end of the year? Come one man. We've seen screenshots of the OS running on PPC HW already! I wouldn't be surpised the least if the beta is shipped to developers within a few weeks at the latest. The boards are already sent out. But you say you know the technological engineering problems with this project. Care to enlighten us trolls? :)
>And it's not Amiga DE that will get some money back into the house.
As i heard it, a deal for milions of copys has already been inked and more are in the works. I think it WILL turn a profit and much faster than one would expect on such a project from a company with so little financing. Thumbs up boys. :)

In reply to Comment 19 (AmiTroll):
Dear Amitroll,
>Let's see. Screenshots of OS4 already running native on a PPC accelerated >system,
This is a plain lie. Today, as we speak, there's no OS 4 running on PPC. The screens comes from 68k code running on a 68k machine. It's up to you to believe or not, but without having seen, you seem to prefer the guys who say "that exists". I've seen and that doesn't exist.
>Hyperion stateing that it's working in beta with a few finishes needed,
False. This is a lie.
>Eyetech distributing the motherboards to developers...
True, though there will be a delay. And there's still nothing coming from the OS 4 efforts to run on these PPC mother boards. Having something to start on the AmigaOne will take months. Speaking with experience, but you won't believe me I imagine.
>I think things are actually being done here Turrican. You perhaps know that >those boards are all hoaxes and Hyperion hasnt got a single line of code >written?
Hold on a minute. Don't deform what I wrote. I've never written what you say. I acknowledge the efforts being made by Hyperion and their sub-contractors. I'm only saying that there won't be OS 4 in May, nor this summer, nor this fall, but maybe on CSPPC before the end of the year (winter). Knowing what Hyperion is capable of, I'm sure they will deliver, but not in the timeframe Mr. Hermans announced to anybody willing to hear it.
>Have you thought that maybe I could know what I'm talking about ? Is it >possible for you that maybe I know more about these things than you do ? I'm >afraid you eliminated too quickly this possibility.
>Ok, back it up with facts.
Already did. The screen shots does not come from a beta of OS 4, the kernel is not finished, there's no OS 4 even in alpha or beta state that's running on any PPC machine. And there won't be any version in May. Even the emulator isnt still included and lacks some 68k opcode (I don't know for FPU opcodes).
These are facts, and they will be proven right end of may, then in june when nothing is available. But I'm sure I'll be insulted a thousand times before this date because, ho my God, I dare to say what's the reality.
>Yeah, i dont much care for the MorphOS crew either. The hardware looks >promising but given track records and the current situation with Hyperion >being denyed dev boards, well.. why waste my money on something that wont run >our OS?
As I said, Morphos team and bPlan promised in the past. And still no Pegasos and no Morphos. They say 1st of June. That will be easy to check.
>But at least give some facts from 'behind the wall' before you go spouting. >Otherwise your just blowing steam here and who will pay any attention to that? >Let's hear your inside info.
As I already said, time will tell if I'm saying vapor or not. First checkpoint in June (we will see if there's an AmigaOS 4 running somewhere and if there's a Pegasos for sale with Morphos). But people, I recall you, don't hold your breath. Go on using your Amiga and buy products for it.
>Well, i can believe that the beta might be delayed untill june some time, but >end of the year? Come one man.
There's no beta of OS 4. The kernel is still being written. No Beta of OS 4 so far.
>We've seen screenshots of the OS running on PPC HW already!
That's a lie and I desapprove this kind of misinformation from Mr. Hermans who 80% admitted after that the screens come from a 68k machine.
>I wouldn't be surpised the least if the beta is shipped to developers within a >few weeks at the latest.
I'm afraid you'll be upset.
>The boards are already sent out. But you say you know the technological >engineering problems with this project. Care to enlighten us trolls? :)
Yeah. The hardware (Articia chipset) has not being tested with G4e and with modern Gfx boards. That's that simple. And I'm afraid Eyetech isn't even aware of it.
>And it's not Amiga DE that will get some money back into the house.
>As i heard it, a deal for milions of copys has already been inked and more are >in the works. I think it WILL turn a profit and much faster than one would >expect on such a project from a company with so little financing. Thumbs up >boys. :)
I don't have enough info on the DE to comment. I just have a bad feeling but it's personnal. Of course, I wish them success, that would be good for the Amiga name. But I can't help being skeptical.

>Yeah. The hardware (Articia chipset) has not being tested with G4e and
The Teron (AmigaOneG3) doesn't have to be tested with any G4s because it won't
ship with G4s, just with a G3. So noone cares if that design doesn't work with
G4s in full speed. Instead Eyetech plans to sell the TeronPX which will be
available at the end of the year with CPU slot and G4 support.
More important concerning the AmigaOne are questions about software. How stable
is the OpenFirmware? Who wrote/writes them? Does it for example support FFS or
maybe only FAT16 and ISO for booting.
>with modern Gfx boards
Well the AmigaOS doesn't support modern graphics cards so there is no problem
about it ;-)

Just go back to the "Screenshots-thread"
Nr4:(Nicolas Sallin)
Massimo Tantigone has no PPC board.
He developed all that on AmigaOS3.x 68k
Nr34:(AnonX)
Wake up ppl their fake check intuition screenshot 2, 3.1 rom!!!!
Nr123:(David Scheibler)
When do you expect to port the 68k intuition.library to PPC?
Nr141:(Ben Hermans)
....
BTW: David Scheibler: every heard of a programming language called "C"? Apparently it allows you to compile the same code for different CPU's.
Great isn't it?
.............
The point is if Hyperion had a working IntuitionPPC
Ben wouldn't be talking about recompiling (and would
have flamed those who said "68k").
Recompiling may be relativ easy for apps, but i'm
sure it would take a bit more for parts of a OS.
Especially if this OS has to interact with older
apps written in 68k and expecting a 68k-OS.

It is really sad how some people ALWAYS have to attack Amiga Inc or people working at Amiga Inc or people who have connections with Amiga Inc all the f*cking time.
Yes, you know who you are and you do it consistently. You spout CRAP without any facts. You emit steaming conjecture, opinion, etc, and try to dress it up as facts when in fact they are total lies.
If you aren't interested, then go somewhere else. I don't see why you have this obsessive compulsive desire to attack Amiga Inc all of the time. It is unnatural, and indicative of a diseased and possibly mentally deficient mind.
Simply put, you make the Amiga community a worse place to be.

Okay, now I have calmed down I can say what I think.
1) The OS4 screenshots were mainly done on a 68k machine because the developer only has a 68k machine, and it is 90% likely that the screenshots were made by him on his machine
2) I doubt that OS4 will be with us in May, possibly late June but most likely July.
3) A lot of the "higher" levels of OS4 have been done or are nearing completion - TCP/IP, GUI stuff, etc, in portable C. The main issue is that of the new Exec and drivers for the hardware, which only Hyperion know the status of, so anyone else commenting on these is not to be trusted.
4) The TeroxCX has a built-on G3, so why the f*ck would it need testing with G4e's, etc? It uses standard AGP 2x, so if graphics cards already work with it, it is not hard to see that in the future, new graphics cards should work in it. Of course, you will need drivers, so the selection will be limited by this anyway.
The OpenFirmware question is valid - I imagine that it comes with a licenced standard OpenFirmware with some of the OS4 additions being code to enable booting using Amiga-style RDB's (updated for PPC I imagine?) with FFS2, etc. Hyperion should be able to provide information regarding this.

Aha. I think I'm beginning to get a clearer idea who you are.
The same person who called up several dealers to tell them the AmigaOne didn't work properly whilst at the same time desperately trying to derail the AmigaOne project.
>Nice try. Amiga Inc. never coded a line for OS 4, H&P did nothing and Hyperion >had to do it by themselves or die. Unfortunately, this is far too late.
Really now.
>People, do not expect Amiga OS on a CSPPC before the end of the year, with a bit >of luck.
Whatever.

Yes, ofcourse. You demonstrated your complete lack of insight into these issues.
Currently the non-existent ExecSG stands at 127 Kb of code.
Not bad for something that doesn't exist right?

Is question is if the current version of ExecSG
is capable of running Intuition.
If i look at your posts about recompiling the
answer themes to be a clear NO.

Were did I say that ExecSG does not exist?
What I said was that your 68k emulation does currently run on WarpOS and not on
ExecSG.

-> AOS4's 68k emu will be an external task and a complex sheduler
will try to run the whole thing like warpos/blackbox does.
nice info, bad design (IMHO of course:)

Ben, if you expect people to believe what you say then you shouldn't announce bogus schedules in public. If you really want them to treat you with respect them don't treat them like children with this "early next year" and "March/April" rubbish.

Just by curiosity, what's the size of the 68k kernel on OS3.9, and on 3.1 by the way???

And maybe a few of you should buy a clue.
This is the software industry. Release dates are projections. When you can buy it, it's real.
The main thing is that significant development work is being done for the first time in a decade. When it's ready I'll be there.

To me, what sucks comletly is why kill the PPC Amiga hardware platform when by OS5 it will exist. I though Amiga was not going to support those small companies with monopolistic policies that just want to explore people!! Tell me one processor(hardware?) maker that doen't support Mickeysoft. Even the AMD loyalists were very surprised recently.
