Just a quick post to let you know that we now have a website to cover development of maim & mangle for the amiga. I'm sure some of you might have forgotten all about that and thought it was cancelled. :) Anyway the website is at:

Well, this is good news. Always nice to see games in development :)
Remember the times when new Amiga games were coming out 10 each week...

Development continues on E2260 too. Though development has moved primarily over to linux, an amiga version is still planned.

Great news to hear.
Though you guys had all packed up shop on the Amiga and run off to (possibly) better lands...

I really like Explorer2260 and followed its development until it was cancelled. Great to hear that you are still (again?) working on it. What do you think about a MorphOS Version?

In reply to Comment 7 (logain):
Explorer 2260 was never cancelled. Work was put on the back burner for a long while and we thought we would keep quiet with development. This will probably remain the way with E2260 till the time we have something to show for it. As for a version for morphos, I wouldn't hold my breath. It is developed for linux primarily now and we will decide at a later date about an OS4 and morphos version.

Good news. I hope to see OS4 version of both.

LinuxPPC?
Well, I'd like to vote for a MOS version, too...

No, that is Linux x86. A MOS port is unlikely. An Amiga version will most likely be for warpos on existing Amigas and depending on the work needed, to OS4 as i'm guessing there should be some compatibility between the 2. As for MOS, if it takes the world by storm, maybe.

At the time, I used to regularily check back on "Colin's Encyclopaedia galactica" for
updates.
Explorer is a VERY anticipated game in my book! Will the encyclopaedia continue
to be updated - as I recall M&M is set in the same universe...?

In reply to Comment 11 (Eddie):
WarpOS programs in fact will work on OS 4. New Features of OS 4
will need a recompile under OS 4 of course. But if you just want your
game to "work", without using new
OS 4 features you can do a WarpOS version and be done with it.
Basically there is a powerpc.library stub-library, which if called
for a function, calls the required function of the OS 4 Kernel, or
duplicates the functionality of the WarpOS function in question, if
needed.

a WarpOS Version is fine 'cause it could run on all AmigaOS3.x, 4.x and MorphOS PPC-platforms.

Very good news! :-)

I thought Maim and Mangle was cancelled ages ago, along with Explorer2260. Looks
like I'll have some original games to play on my new hardware, then! Any estimates
for a release date?
-
Things are indeed starting to look up again. Hopefully, clickBOOM will re-announce
Napalm 2 one of these days, Digital Images will resume Spacestation 3000, Firaxis will
then announce AmigaOne support, and Microsoft will go bankrupt. And then it'll all be
topped off with the end of all war, and the rise of a global union!
-
Erm...maybe I lost touch with reality at some point there...but Maim & Mangle still
being in development is a good start!

YEEHHAAAWWWW
Do i have to say more ??
And to Mr. Haeusers reply: this is even better wassent sure that I could just compile for WarpOS and thus make work on the OS4.0
This day is going to be a good day...
Greetz...

Well a bit more work to it than just a recompile. :) We won't say one way or the other that a LinuxPPC version of E2260 will happen. If it does, it does, if it doesn't it doesn't.

Neither were cancelled. After the demise of TWF we weren't particularly keen on doing any work for a while. There will only be development news on M&M and not E2260. Maybe occasionally there might be some comment on E2260 but not much. So as far as E2260 goes, expect it when you see it.

Eh, not just a recompile? So you are saying that what you are coding works for m68/ppc-amigaos and x86-linux, but not ppc-linux? Or are you saying you in fact are only coding for x86-linux, and if enough demand will redo from scratch for amigaos? ;)

E2260 is being developed for Linux x86. As work progresses on that version, parts of it are ported to the amiga.

Yes it will be updated. Some E2260 ships were remodelled last year and new displays of them added. Hopefully get some new content before the summer. The CEG is at http://ceg.starforge.co.uk or click on the CEG link on the M&M website.
