What about paying for your advertising?
A fistfull of Dollars : Comment 2 of 32ANN.lu

In reply to Comment 1 (darklite):
Why start on Mikey when all these other companies from Amstrad to IBM release "press releases" that get published as "news stories" all over the internet and in computer magazines for years?
A fistfull of Dollars : Comment 3 of 32ANN.lu
Posted by Mikey C on 19-May-2002 09:22 GMT
In reply to Comment 1 (darklite):
When Commercial Amiga Companies such as Hyperion, Eyetech, Power
Computing, Elbox and the rest put out a press release, it gets
published, but somehow, when a a non-profit making, purely volunteer
driven magazine puts out a press release, it has to be paid for?
For Pete's sake, all I'm trying to do is increase the circulation and
awareness of the magazine. Is that a crime? Besides, if you live in
the USA or Australia, it is news right?

I agree that Hyperion, Eyetech and the others should be the first to pay. But the previous news item was also about your magaezine, so I don't see why you need to post another one.

I cant find a duplicate bit of information about the mag, its not as if Mikey is spamming us.

Leadership on pro x86 issues?

In reply to Comment 1 (darklite):
Darklite...Think before you write
Advertising? Maybe it is, but it's for a non-profit magazine so it would be a bit to much to ask for money wouldn't it?
It could also be seen as news as it must be of great interest to the people living in the mentioned countries.
..If you had to pay everytime you wrote a stupid post, Christian would have earned a fortune by now..

Speaking as a pro-x86-er, I don't think "leadership" is an appropriate term. :)

In reply to Comment 10 (DaveW):
Fair enough.
Then again, I wouldn't hold that against him too much. Ben is practically begging to be wound up most of the time. :)
Mikey, OTOH, is doing a grand job promoting awareness of the Amiga, promoting Total Amiga Magazine, organising shows etc. He certainly doesn't deserve the earache.

i think that we need stuff like this for there to be *ANY* news on amiga sites and after all products being avialable is news . And why should money come into it ? this is the *AMIGA* community , we're friendly peeps and don't care for material things like money.
Spose you don't understand these things because you've never been part of the community

Erm I care for material things like being paid. But Im happy to donate to the cause that Mikey represents because its voluntary work. Hence free PPC gfx cards all round ( milky bars are on me! ) ;-)
Although Im sure hed rather superior hardware like a Mediator with Voodoo3.
But I havent finished with that yet.

Well i've fixed up peoples amiga's , given um old cpu cards etc thats the sorta thing i mean , in the amiga community if the money is key to its servival like magazines fair enough . but the old bitta news/ad posting whats the problem , hyperion after all have given us warp3d etc at no charge so we should return the favour.

Thanks Dave, but with regards to the Mediator, I am going for the

As to the BVision, I am very happily using it atm.
Expect a surprise through your letterbox this week and another 3
more thereafter. :-)

No I think Mikey should pay, he has been spamming this group with commercial advertising for years!

Those trying to make the difference for free should be supported to the best of our abilities.
Even to the extend of donating hardware to SEAL that we no longer use so they can redistribute it.
Dave.

Give them a break! With just a bunchful of Amiga related magazines left you should just be happy to hear about them. Considering that 95% of the debates on ANN are trash I don't see how helping a magazine survive can be detrimental to the community.

LOL!!!
Dont be so prickly. I am pro x86 myself and lobbied with the rest of them for an x86 solution but the decision went against me so I fell in line and will wait for my next opportunity.
Leadership doesnt imply theres a gang. Leadership means showing the way. It was a compliment.

Just for the record, I am the Chairman of ANT (Amiga North
Thames). Total Amiga is put together by the guys from from SEAL.
However SEAL and ANT (Yeah, SEALANT- We know) have a good working
relationship. We help each other out and every now and then and attend
each others' meetings.
We are working together again this year alongside ASA and Kickstart to
bring you WOASE 2002 - We hope! :-)

Darlite, what exactly is your problem?
This is an Amiga related topic on an Amiga related site.
If you own the site or are paying to use it, then you can speak on behalf of the owner.
Comapred to the propaganda about other "things" that are now being posted here, this certainly belongs here, and I don't think that it is up for anyone to ask for money about it, unless if he was Christian Kemp.
To Mickey, keep up the enthusiasm and the good work.

I went to the Australian site that was mentioned to order a copy. Guess what, no mention of it anywhere, and no reply to my email.
So you have lost a sale there.
So where can I get this from in Australia?
