Woo!!, more progress - just what I like to see.
I feel the main partition window (the one with some colour at long last!) needs to be spaced out a little more, too many button groups crammed together.
I assume this is running on an existing AMiga running 3.9 at the moment? I hope the new ReAction doesn't have that great nasty right-hand border still. Has Intuition got 1:1 ration window gadgets now too?

Perhaps you could release an mpeg of the requesters being dragged

In the first screenshot I see SLAMPREP by A.VALLINOTTO.
What is SLAMPREP and who is A.vallinotto?
Vallinotto works for Amiga/hyperion or a part of the hdprep is based on a freeware/shareware product?
bye.

One question, though:
Who is the dildohead at Hyperion who doesn't know PNG is much better than jpg for web graphics? YOU DON'T USE LOSSY COMPRESSION FOR SCREENSHOTS CONTAINING TEXT!
Other than that, it's looking good. Really good. :)

Nice to see some progress being made...
IMHO: HDToolbox might be the buggies part of OS3.9 package...
I bet Hyperion guys are now pretty busy on integrating the thing, so that they can show things running & to test how the integrated system starts working.
Also I bet they'll not spend/have summer vacation. ;) (or if they have it, it's only for finalizing Quake2) :P
Quake2 would not be too shaddy test application, it can be gradually set to put stress on different parts of the system...
The demonstration I would like to see the most would be 68k Quake (SW render) and 3D accelerated PPC native Quake2 running simultaneously.
Then, later some demo of two players playing against each on Quake2 on a dual monitor configuration on a A1.5...

Well
Andrea Vallinotto is an italian programmer and a good friend of Massimo Tantiglione, aka "Tanti" (Ciao Massimo), the author of Visual Prefs and the Mega patch to Intuition libray for the Os4.
Particulary we can call the new Intuition "an integrated VisualPrefs".
Anyway, It's easy to obtain the same workbench under 3.x with VisualPrefs and Birdie.
We must only hope that, due to be an official megapatch, everything will run stable and fast.
Good work Tanti.

Haven't you understood that different components of the OS are
developed separately? The Amiga OS is modular, not all tangled up in
one big ball of string like Windows.
Of course the HDToolbox is being developed on OS 3.9. You develop on a
stable platform.
This new HDToolbox looks extremely impressive and professional. This
is the kind of no-holds-barred high standard that we need to set.
Professional but usable; usable but not designed for Teletubbies.

Ok, I'll answer the most common questions in one comment.
"What is SLAMPREP and who is A.vallinotto?"
SlamPrep was the codename of the project before becoming HDSCSIToolkit.
The tool is made of two modular parts; the note you see on the opening window
is the version information of the "Engine": the lowlevel part.
Andrea Vallinotto is me, since some years now. I'm getting kinda used to it.
"Why no 1x1 aspect ratio and such nice stuff ?"
Because I don't use them. :-)
The screenshots were taken from my development machine, and I try to run the most
stable possible libraries. The new intuition from Massimo and Stephan looks great
but I've never had the time to test it very well.
"Why damn looking JPG ?"
Well................ I hope the problem will be fixed soon. Stay tuned.
"It looks great!"
Thanks. Do you have any fancy idea for Filesystem colors ? What color would you
prefer for FFS ? SFS ? OFS ? DC-FFS ? RDB components, please. :-)))))))

that the MS method of throwing a team of 30 at it.

OFS: Dark Grey. Definately.
DC-FFS: Not sure what this is. Is it the "old" FFS, then a brighter grey.

user-definable colours please??
otherwise, I guess some obvious colours...for unformatted partitions,
and used partitions.
almost everyone will only use this tool about twice during their whole
OS4.x usage (which is a miserable thing to think about) but make it
a brilliantly clean and nice tool and they may just load it up
simply to do things such as show off their HD speed etc etc :-)

Get a friend good in graphics (with a little

But the prob is the time to finish, test and integrate all the various part of the Os. It needs a lot of time, not promises.
To start another flame (eheheh It was passed too many time) It's really cool heard about reverse eng while the Os 4 is developed on a phase 5 PPC boards which flash bios is copyrighted and could not be disassembled.
But we are waiting for legal actions against Bplan an Morphos ... right?

Huh? PNG is supported well enough whether you use a PC, Amiga, Windoze, Linux etc. I agree with Ole-Egil that the screenshots should have been PNG instead of JPG. Anything with text and uniform colours, such as the HDTB grabs, looks really shoddy when compressed as a jpeg.

I don't want checkered, it would be gimmicky.
What is needed is to be able to use the WB palette requester to set
the colours how you want, and I suppose with the Birdie-style GUI it
might be possible to fill those areas with a pattern.
Will there be any support for non-Amiga filesystems? Sometimes it is
useful to move a whole drive full of data to another machine, so Linux
and NT filesystems ought to be supported.

Watch your semantics, Don. The way you wrote that "team of 30" seems to refer back to "really good programmer(s)" :-)
Though sometimes in my line of work (development of enterprise systems) it seems that you *would* be better of with one really good programmer doing his thing, uninterrupted, than a team of 30 spending more than half their time communicating and/or waiting. With/on each other, their bosses, customer contacts, subcontractors...

Actually, two is good for planning. You can sit down with paper and
pencil and work the thing out in detail, define all the objects, etc.
But then it seems to be best for one person to do the coding.
Anyway, if this is half as good as it looks, Andrea is to be
