Hmm... does that mean Hyperion get their board, or don't get their board? Or did they cancel their order due to having waited so long?

Funny that people have a petition against Amiga’s practices, but none against Morphos demand that Pegasos keep OS 4.0 off their board.
Funnier still this announcement. It seems, coming a day or two after the last announcement, a way of saying that they "have shipped" (in limited quantities no doubt) and not actually "ship" to their customers. It is not like there are thousands of customers willing to buy Pegasos "before" the offical Morphos release—this was targeting the developers from the start. I guess it's best to ignore the PR bull from both sides.

Sorry but when did bPlan (MorphOS) say that the wouldn't like OS4 on their
board ? All I know is that they don't like the licence-terms, but would
have nothing against anybody willing to sell their OS for the Pegasos.

No public announcement is necessary. They have been silent on the issue (or answered with purposely obfuscated language) but it only makes sense that Morphos is holding things up. What would Pegasos have to gain by limiting what software works with their product? Of course, they could just be stupid. It just appears to many people that Morphos put some pressure on them.

how many boards were there in the run now sold out and how many will there be in the next one? I hope hyperion is in the friendly developer list, however I somehow doubt that :(
cum on now Ainc, hyperion and bplan. You all got the chance of making eachother benefit here if you just find will strong enough to make it work. This is the time to forget all about fighting and staring at your own belly. Thinking like that will make sale figures smaller than they could be... For everyone. Even if it wouldn't be catastrophic if they weren't as high as they could, it would still be nicer to have more instead of less eh?

So Pegasos and MorphOS are one product, but noone will stop
anybody from developing SW to be sold as add-on (after the
boards are really available offcourse).
If AInc/Hyperion don't want to do it under these circumstances,
then that is their desicion, but not bPlans fault.

Why are you making up excuses? Hyperion ordered a board, sent payment and are waiting to recieve it. Even if they use it as a $500 frisbee they are still entitled to recieve a board. It sounds like someone else is limiting our choices and not Hyperion nor Amiga Inc. Prove me wrong bPlan and i'll buy a board. But only if it runs AOS4 and is not a $500 emulator of 3.1. :)

- Nothing is stopping them from buying it.
Reverse-engineer what ? I thought POP and open firmware
would mean something. Besides, Pegasos does not have
the extra bit of protection-code.
Whats to stop a clever person from hacking os 4 up to get it running on the board , is there really all that much difference between the two boards except the pegasos being inie weanie and the amigaone having another pci slot?

Hacking the protection is ofcource always possible, its a matter
of how interested someone is to do it, and how long it will take,
etc..
..ofcource, as the pegasos board is smaller, thay have to write all
the code in lowercase.. hmm... no, njet :)

Who cares about MorphOS anyway? I worry about MOS about as much as i care about WindowsXtraProblems. If they dont want to get AmigaOS on thier boards and instead want to push thier 3.1 emulator they can take a flying leap. Amithilon is a FAR better solution for Amiga emulation anyway. Question is, do you want a real OS or an emulator?
*NOTE: Amithilon is a DAMN nice piece of software but i still want the real OS running native.*

not nit picking here , but if you think about it,Unless the mos developers get hold the os 4 source or hack os 4 apart , the amiga side of mos is only ever going to be able to run 3.1 , warpos ( whats mos got for warp3D? or does it run the warpos version ok ? constructive comment , not put down) and ppc.lib progs ; so everything we've got now. Same applies to os 4. the only tie their going to have is that they can both run os 3.x progs and then go they'll their own way.
So all people have to judge at this moment is really an os 3.1 emulator in simple terms ( altho mos does show a percentage for fullness of the ram disk , handy ) , what it eventually becomes is going to be more and the same will apply with os 4.
Maybe we should all stop defending products we have never used , and pass constructive ones on the ones that do ? like it'd be nice if you could iconify progs to the dock bar in os3.9 ( or even give a glow to running progs started from the bar and they minimize down to the bar etc ) or i'd like mos to store old ram disk contained files on a temp harddrive section to save ram for games ?
phew , its really hard trying not to get on the wrong side of people

1) There is a working Warp3D>Rave3D wrapper. Works good.
2) The WarpOS emulation works fine with most progs.
3) MorphOS doesn't stick to AmigaOS 3.1's API. It uses it and
extends it with MUCH new functionality. Like OS4.
Anyway. Let the best win... We'll see as soon as BOTH OSes are in the market.

Hyperion don't have a problem with porting OS4 to Pegasos.
Amiga Inc don't have a problem with OS4 on Pegasos.
Amiga Inc do have a problem with MorphOS as a commercial application
on any hardware, It infringes their copyright.
The Amiga Inc OS4 dongle does not prevent other legal OS's from
running.
BPlan and the MorphOS team are basically the same people who were at
Phase5, 5 years ago.

WarpOS was very Amiga like.
PowerUP was very Unix like.

Rob, the AOS4 protection scheme is NOT a "dongle". If it was they could sell the dongle with the OS as a separate product like many other software titles.
PS: It's obvious the reason why this protection scheme was put into place: total control of what hardware may run AOS4 and which may not. It has absolutely nothing to do with piracy.

This is what people don't understand , the protection is a dongle even if its directly on the board , or on a usb plug , the reason its on board on the amigaone is to keep down production costs i reckon , but theres nothing stopping hyperion porting os 4 to the pegasos and producing a usb / serial etc dongle , and that counts for any hardware with a chance of running os 4 aka ppc hardware.

Yep
"Amiga Inc don't have a problem with OS4 on Pegasos."
correct
"Amiga Inc do have a problem with MorphOS as a commercial application
on any hardware, It infringes their copyright."
Not so sure , you have to remember that mos almost became aos , altho if amiga inc can prove it , it does infring their copyright ; not saying it does , but its a possibility isn't it , and before people start going off on one big prove it shouting flame war , its a *possibility* just like its possible they make green custard.
"The Amiga Inc OS4 dongle does not prevent other legal OS's from
running."
Exactly , the dongle doesn't limit the hardware , it limits cheap skates that wan t to run dodgy versions of os 4 , gotta dongle , run os 4 , no dongle no chance whatever hardware your trying.
"BPlan and the MorphOS team are basically the same people who were at
Phase5, 5 years ago."
I did used to think so , but its more like bplan and mos were the real workers at phase 5 e.g. the ones that designed and produced stuff. The ones that screwed people over were the management. Altho i do feel really pissed off about it all , wasted years of my life trying to kill the ppc.lib , trying to get cgx working , you have to ask yourself "was it all worth it" if it was good :) , if it wasn't maybe its time just to do something else instead.
"If anyone cares to remember Phase5 were never happy about WarpOS
running on their hardware."
Yeah we bloody screamed for a decent flash rom , but no luck , you can't really expect people to give in and say that theirs sucked and yours is better tho , its human nature to defend your own.
"WarpOS was very Amiga like.
PowerUP was very Unix like."
It goes more like this , "powerup was a f**king arse for a few reasons , so was warpos , but it kinda worked and got away with it and thats what matters"
"Phase5 wanted to develope a Unix like OS (cue MorphOS)."
IIRC Phase 5 wanted a ppc os and commodore were sitting on their hands while the magement didn't ;(. Every os has unix like roots , IMHO amigaOS is very unix like , its the interface that pulls it apart, morphos being originally really a amiga replacement os inhirated some of these qualities , but their again *we* haven't seen it running its own interface , only time will tell.
"OS4 is a real Amiga OS."
Its based on the original amigaos sources , so that could be said to be true . Personnaly os 4 is my choice becuase its something i know and have a unknown reason to prefer.
"MY OPPINION....
Bplan should stick to making hardware not OS's."
yeah but that would kinda kill off their *bigger picture* that gets ignored by everyone , its not just about the few amiga users that are left.
"QUESTON....
By the way how many of you Blizzard and Cyberstorm owners out there
don't use WarpOS."
ppc.lib kinda sucked , mos kinda sucks IMHO now , but only time will tell , maybe if phase 5 didn't bite the electronic big one it would have got better , and maybe mos will get better , who knows.

"Damn i feel like i'm batting for the wrong side , Btw. I love amigaos nananan hehe :)"
You aren't battling for the "wrong side" There are no right or wrong sides here. There's only hundreds of different imho's and your definately on the right track when you are not letting the hatred from your past obscure your sense of reality. When taking things too personally one always forgets to try and have unbiased and neutral approach on things.
As you have probably finally noticed, it doesen't mean you would be a traitor to AmigaOS even if you keep an open mind and have an unbiased, adult and neutral way of looking at things instead of jumping into conclusions right away.
Way to go dude! Keep up your new attitude and I bet people will learn to see your points in a new light instead of thinking "oh no he's flaming again" before they even bother to read your comments through.
Altough there is a slight possibility that some unnamed people will now start flaming you with comments like "pro MOS camper!" or "Oh NO! It's c0rpse posting gizm again, ignore him all!" But I guess thats the price we all have to pay when we try to behave neutral on ann.
