from releasing the source under such terms as APL to having it ported in a week, to ....well there hasn't been enough time to improve it yet...
This will be a good example of the value of such licensing and how it enable moving forward regardless of all the political IP bitch slapping.
Good going guys!!!!

In reply to Comment 44 (Bill Hoggett):
"What you are really doing is making a point that the MorphOS version is NOT and Amiga version. That's trolling."
I'm not following, I *asked* for an Amiga version and that is trolling because it's saying that the current version isn't an Amiga version? I'm sorry but it's obvious that version of AWeb is for an alternative OS to AmigaOS, right? And since I'm an AmigaOS user I simply asked if there is going to be an Amiga version of that AWeb version, there's no trolling about it.

Everyone is going on about FLAIMBAIT!
If it is so apparent to you that it's flaimbait and you are not willing to give him the benefit of the doubt (i.e. misunderstanding), Then why do you respond.
IMO your flames are worse than the question that started them.
If someone just responded by saying there are no plans yet for an AOS version then there would not have been so much Hoohaa about it! I would expect that to be an intelligent response
If you think some people like to post flambait then I also think some people love to flame.
This has really become the attitude here at ANN recently.

In reply to Comment 48 (Samarse):
Ha! You call yourself Samarse then have the temerity to accuse him of making a childish post.
So far in this thread I have seen Samface ask a question regarding a native PPC Amiga version, and then about 20 MorphOS fanatics jumping on him and regarding his post as a troll, whilst behaving much worse themselves. It appears the sensitive people here are the MorphOS using ones.
Also, AWeb uses Reaction yes? And Reaction is part of OS3.5 and 3.9, so MorphOS is still using parts of 68k AmigaOS to run? Will MorphOS have a native Reaction when it is completed and available? If not, then AWeb still does not run natively on MorphOS... because MorphOS will not be able to use any AmigaOS 68k binaries or libraries in its final version.
Also, please can someone at bPlan make the MOS beta-testers test under NDA? It hardly appears from reading ANN that it is a beta, it appears to be a release that just happens to have a sub-1.0 version number. There seems to be many people using it and commenting on public forums about it, and it is still using 68k AmigaOS components. If the public perception is that MorphOS has been released already (as MorphOS fanatics like to say all the time - MorphOS is available now, etc) then AInc/Hyperion can use that in their legal arguments against you and the use of MorphOS with AmigaOS binaries.
Just trying to help the MorphOS people out here, btw. It would be stupid for the OS to get sh*t upon because a few "beta"-testers kept saying too much on online public forums.

> question, is people really right when flaming me for it?
LOL, who cares. If you weren't trolling then why are you getting worked up about it? Either you're doing it on purpose or you've got a natural born ability to wind certain people up.
Asking for someone to do something for you without giving anything in return is kinda rude. If someone wanted to do a PPC version of Aweb for AmigaOS then they would.
Or are you saying people should only do what you want?

Good question. Since it's installed with the OS in v3.5 and v3.9, it is safer to assume that yes, it is part of commercial AOS and cannot be included in MOS.
Unless you know of the original author releasing the code as Open Source...?

You know, it amazes me how an interesting piece of news like this can cause a flamewar, it's totally rediculous. I applaud anyone who takes the time to bring us something new to the "Amiga" scene, regardless of whether it's AmigaOS, MorphOS or Amithlon or whatever.

So, according to your post, anyone who accuses Samface
of trolling is a MorphOS user? Now you're trolling.
I've criticised Samface of trolling (comment nine) but
have never even seen MorphOS let alone used it. I simply
can't stand political martyrs (like samface) scoring points
off perfectly legitimate posts that just happen to involve
MorphOS. The quicker Samface and his soft mates understand
that MorphOS is a perfectly legitimate upgrade option
for Amiga users (this port of AWeb is further proof of this)
the better.

If it only took 7 days for someone to make a PPC version of AWeb for MorphOS - probably someone who would be less familiar with the sources than the original developers, it makes me wonder why the original developers didn't just make a PPC version of AWeb months ago - heck, I would have bought it.

I agree. MorphOS is similar enough to AmigaOS 3.5 for me to consider. If AmigaOS 4 is different enough, I may not like it. In the end, I don't give a sh*t which company makes the OS I like most, at this point in time it is Amiga OS 3.5 - as MorphOS isn't a final version yet. But time will tell, perhaps I'll get both AmigaOS 4.0 and MorphOS if I like them both.

On a slightly different note - has anybody attempted to use the GCC-fied AWeb source to roll an x86 compile of the binary? - for Amithlon use of course (!).
I'd give it a whirl if I had Linux installed to run the gcc cross-compiler.

In reply to Comment 90 (Alkis Tsapanidis):
Well it won't, that is what half of the legal problems are about surely?
MorphOS cannot ship with, or make use of, any libraries or code that forms part of AmigaOS (i.e., core parts, other parts if written by a third party should be able to be relicenced by bPlan of course for inclusion). This is apparently the reason that MorphOS is delayed because several parts (Intuition, etc) have had to be written from scratch (or from AROS) whereas before they were hoping to make users use the binaries from an existing AmigaOS installation under the 68k emulator.
Which would have been okay if Amiga had been completely dead. Unfortunately they are very much alive at the moment.
