Slashdot have an article about Mac On Linux running on the AmigaOne. Once again however Amiga's come back has been booed down by the Slashdot masses.

This kind of behaviour is standard at Slashdot. It has actually little to do with the Amiga per se. The same happened with BeOS stories when Be Inc still was alive and kicking. The people shouting at Slashdot in replies isn't the silent majority which actually likes to read about Amiga. The more shouting is more an indicator of that many (for whatever reason) see Amiga as a potential competitor.
IMO it is best to either ignore the comments or write clarifications or your own opinions in reply.

The slashdot up bring'in means you have to hate everything but AMD linux machines , i wouldn't worry about it because its still getting the news around that we're alive :)

The BeOS bashers were correct, utterly correct, hopefully their insights won't prove correct for Amiga (although Be had a hell of a lot more going for it then Amiga).

Not a big surprise, the Amiga's come back is also booed down by the Amiga community itself! Why expect better from Slashdot?!?

It hasn't been booed down by the Slashdot crowd at all. The only
people doing the booing are known Amiga users/trolls who post
here and on other Amiga boards. Mechanix et al.
Any other comments relate to the fact that this "achievement" of
getting OSX to boot under MacOnLinux is hardly surprising (which
it isn't and I've no idea why it's on Slashdot's frontpage).
Moreover, what's the "Slashdot Masses" anyway? Is it some sort of
gestalt entity? Believe it or not, thousands upon thousands of
people read and post to Slashdot and very few, if any, share
exactly the same opinons.

Thanks for the link to the article on slashdot.... I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
Most of the posters are actually quite good. (Excepting Mekanix of course)

Just checked over at slashdot to see what's actually being said. Most of the talk is actually about MacOS. The little Amiga talk is not negative in any way. I was annoyed by the Amiga zealots who claim AGA graphics to be better then some recent non-AGP graphics cards. I guess the Amiga community will never loose it's religious holy-war image. Oh well.

Wow! The /. article submitter and the /. janitors obviously have no idea of what's been going on the last two years in Amiga-land. "New Amiga hardware"? There won't be any new Amiga hardware. "Runs MacOS"?? Yes, of course, it's a POP board with OpenFirmware running Linux and MOL.
Sigh. It must be a slow day when they accept stuff like this.

I agree, actually. And so does most people I know. This really isn't that much news. To US ;-)
But there are simple minded people out there who wouldn't consider buying an AmigaOne because of lack in MacOS applications. Not so anymore ;-)
(I know OSX doesn't run on MOL, but 99% of the applications out there aren't really OSX applications yet. They run in classic emulation mode...)
