PC Magazine rate entertainment pack #1 - 4 out of 5 (from the amiga.com site) and add an interesting comment... If you read the comments it is interesting to note that the reviewer states the games are 'Amiga-style' which clearly lead to a positive conclusion of 4 stars out of 5. It just goes to show that even now people still remember the Amiga name for good quality games. :) 1000+ club members over the next couple of days? I hope so. If they could just release some more teaser screenshots of OS 4.0 then they may well do it.

Maybe he was payed to give em 4/5 :-) no seriously though! Planet Zed is a nice game worth the 4/5! but everything else ive seen so far for "amigade" is not worth a penny.

It's not hard to get a good review in PC Magazine. I wrote Enable Tuner in a month and it got the Editor's Pick. I thought maybe I'm just a good coder but apparently...

To a certain extent you are going to be unable to avoid the nostalgic links. This is how most people remember the Amiga - as a good games machine from the past. Sure, it's not the cutting edge image that Amiga need - but to get people back interested in the machine the nostalgic link is always going to be there.
In this aspect it was taken positively. If people can think, 'yeah I remember the Amiga it was really cool" this gives them an incentive to take a look at the amiga.com site or start asking questions about what is available (or coming soon ;). This then leads on to the AmigaOne and OS4.0 which can only be a good thing.
The Amiga has a strong, positive nostalgic link with a lot of people and there is every opportunity to use that to its full potential without damaging the image of Amiga's future.

That's the "review" in its entirety! It mostly sounds like a description of an emulator which will let fools with $30-60 too much in their wallets relive the old days when "colors and stereo sound" was a novelty (and apparently still is what's defining "Amiga-style").
And WTF does any of this have to do with AmigaOS or the coupon fraud? Why did the submitter mention that?
The next time AI orders a review I think they ought to downplay the "Amigas used to be great, so this must be as well because we're using the same trademark" bit (the market doesn't care about what was yesterday) and instead try to tell the world why people should buy this stuff TODAY and why it's better than other stuff available TODAY.
The marketing needs to be directed outside the little flock of already brainwashed fanatics - that's not a viable market, and the more they get lied to WRT the benefits of Amiga-labelled products the happier they get. Out there in the big world, the lies need to be both plausible, attractive and relevant. Not just "It's AMIGA!! Amiga, I tell y'all! I am Amiga!!" - people don't give a crap and if things are done like they've been done so far the word "Amiga" will be shunned *everywhere*, and the only "product" of Amiga Inc. - licensed IP - will be *totally* worthless.
Will somebody pleeeeease take that open marketing position over in Snoqualmie before things get even more fucked up? You probably won't get payed, but please do it out of pity for The Trademark...

The article is way too short. Doesn't even review each game independently, just says that these are the games.
If I was reviewing something that I thought was good, I'd write a longer article, stressing what was good and bad between the different products.

Whoah there! There's no need to be so tetchy.
It's just a quick (very quick) review of the Entertainment Pack - that's all. Why all the tension? Whether you think the coupon is fraud or not is your opinion - no one is forcing anyone to buy anything. I only mentioned its progress as a positive slant in line with the review.
All the aggression in the Amiga scene lately does seem a bit unnecessary. It's just a small computer company releasing some products, and if you want to buy any then go ahead, if not then don't. There really is no need for people to get so wound up. Stay calm and voice your arguments without aggression and I assure you that life will be a far more pleasant place to be.
Go outside and hug a tree or something.

I was thinking of simply referencing the rating to promote the pack, not using the snippet to exalt the virtues of the platform.
We tend to think that Amiga exposure is daily because we follow the developments, but for many its very existence is a surprise.

a break from all mailing lists/newsgroups/online forums for a while.
Nothing really positive seems to come of it. Well... 1 or 2 things do
show up once in a while, but then there is always a huge assed
flamewar over it. All this negativity helps NO ONE, and certainly
won't sway people one way or the other. It's just trenching us all in
for the long haul. Myself, I can't wait for the release of the
AmigaOne, then I'm hoping this lightens up a bit.
