The TripleA and AFUA french Amiga users associations are proud to present you the Alchimie 2 and A-Expo event.
It's the combination of an Amiga party (Alchimie 2) and an Amiga Expo (A-Expo) at the same time.
This event will be held in Tain l'Hermitage near Valence in France the 7th and 8th of September 2002.

We already had the confirmation of the coming of both Eyetech Group Ltd and Thendic-France SARL and so AmigaOne and Pegasos will be demonstrated there!

You can find more information about it in the following website: A-Expo website

Interesting. I see there are only two exhibitors (perhaps there aren´t so many actors left on the Amiga market now), but it is the two most interesting ones!
I hope that someone will make some GOOD screenshots this time. ;-)
I also hopes that you who visits the expo pushes both Eyetech and Thendic for some information regarding availability of their products and so on (if they still hasn´t become available by then).
Looking forward to a detailed show report!

May I hereby suggest the only *rational* way to settle the hardware wars is a Quake or Sin deathmatch run between the A1 and Pegasos? :)
Both systems have Linux available, and presumably networking support by now; it would certainly be a demonstration that the hardware remains interoperable at the basest level (although I wonder if there are any Amigans left who still don't realize you can run a heterogenous LAN), and both sides can try to crush the competition in meaningful fashion!
Of course, this shouldn't overshadow any real demonstrations, but it'd be a nice closer.

Er, scratch Sin if it's not out for LinuxPPC- I need to stop doing that.

Hello,
For your information there is also the possibility to book your ticket for the event through the website.
I advice you a lot to do so as if you don't book, you'll have to pay more.
The price is 11 Euros per day of coming. It's 10 Euros for AFUA and/or TripleA members.
Oh also, the Pegasos will of course be shown running MorphOS and the AmigaOne will may be shown running AmigaOS 4 (or a first piece of it...)
Regards

So Thendic will be at this Amiga event demonstrating the Pegasos running MOS. I'm confused, is this the same Thendic that were posting here on ANN that they were not targeting the Amiga market?

An interesting idea. But you would propably get quite similar results. The hardware is quite similar, although the Pegasos has more functionality built in (like firewire, DOC option, processormodule, etc). But that wouldn't show off in gaming. Perhaps if the Pegasos uses a dual G4 card, but I haven't heard about the existance of those yet. Only single G4 prototypes ...

Where did you get this info from ? Or are you guessing ?
Would be good if OS4 are at the stage where its demoable...
And where are the better MOS-bench screenshoots promised by Bill Buck ? :)

Well Alan said the kernel works (more or less), so they could show some debug
info. I'm sure people will be impressed :)

Hello,
@cotahagen: Yes of course I'm guessing.
@Darrin: I think you misunderstood. What I understood personally is that Thendic is not only targetting the Amiga market. And it's quite logical, the Amiga market is actually too small.
That's why I think Thendic just want to create their market (which can be called "MorphOS market" I think :) ). And of course they are also targetting the Linux market as the Pegasos will come with Linux too.

Note that a 'deathmatch' refers to a good ol' tournament of Quake, not a benchmarking session. The hardware *would* be pretty even, it'd be largely up to the players' skill to win, and it would be a useful reminder that, as far as the Amiga scene goes, "fun" still is the driving force.
Whoever came out on top could, of course, attribute their win to their superior hardware, everyone could have a grin, and we'd get to see what'd happen in next year's round... ;)

Obviously the Pegasos does not run AmigaOS, so they cannot target the Amiga market.
Instead they will show MorphOS - good enough for you?

Hi David
I often wondered how deeply you are involved with Morphos/Bplan, since you have to (try to) slam Hyperion/eyetech whenever you get the chance.
Are you hired by Bplan/Thendic/morphos?
Just wondering!

I think his comment equally pokes at MorphOS/bPlan there; they too went through the showing-off-debugging-output phase at last.. November(?)..'s demo, and from what seems to be said on the Amiga.org IRC channel, there's a beta (alpha?) or two around sounding about that far along from Hyperion...

Isn't it quite obvious? Seems Ralph didn't agree with Bill on showing something to the public before it's 100% completed.

Well. I don't personally care about Linux, but these new machines are the first ones I consider interesting enough on Amiga market on allmost 10 or so years to be good anough to get me back using them on daily basis.
And yes.. I'm still open to alternatives... So no flames on one or another, please

I didn't ask if David was just "well informed", I don't doubt he is.
He is spreading FUD about Amiga/Hyperion/Eyetech and that is illegal if he is working for a competitor as I believe he is.
Why don't you answer me David, do you work for Bplan/Morphos/Thendic, or have you submitted any work to them. I believe you are working for them, but you see I also am "well informed".

Glop glop,
Many exhibitors will come to the Alchimie 2 #biggest show in town# in France; Eyetech (AmigaOne presentation), Thendic-France (Pegasos pre-orders), Triple A association (endless deliriums), AFUA association, AFLE association, Amigazette Association, APS, Relec, PureLamers... It will be a great moment, as the Anthology (from the Beatles ;-)
