Just to know how can one develop for a platform that is not available neither as crosscompiler or such at the moment, it's easier to develop for HAL9000, at least in the Kubrick's movie we can see his hardware architecture from a good point of view :)
That's not polemic, I think that a simple devkit, maybe a 68k or x86 linux gcc with some programming guidelines should be already something... or state officially that the correct API for PPC programming is the WarpOS API.
Anyway there is no point in doing it since you don't have anyway the possibility to test anything you wrote, except maybe some developers very near to hyperion and amigainc.

In reply to Comment 1 (Gabriele Greco):
Actually there is already an OS 4 cross-compiler running on Linux.
We're working on other distributions right now.

I can only have BIG RESPECT for people like Davy, still developping for Amiga.
If i have my OS4 and AOne (and if it ever appears), then this is one piece of software i would consider buying for sure.
respect.

In reply to Comment 2 (Ben Hermans/Hyperion):
Why not release it? your using GCC anyway, release the backend if such a thing does exist, so some feeble amount of software may be ported by the time AmigaOS4 comes into existence.

Hmm, I think I prefer Prostation Audio:) But well, it depends on the price and what you want to do I guess. Is Prostation Audion on the list?

A friend has just chucked his copy of Cubase in the bin, tired of all
the time-lags and glitches imposed by a certain M$ operating system.
He's bought a very nice piece of dedicated DSP hardware to do the job
instead.
I wonder if the AmigaOne version will fare better? Amiga's multimedia
history suggests it could. I hope so.
Respect to the developers for doing serious stuff like this.

IIRC, majority (if not all) of Amiga developers have said that they will support OS4.
And many of those will also support OS3.x, MOS, Amithlon, etc...
Very few developers develop only for MOS or OS4. (not too wise, IMHO)
(most likely they will not make profit on Amiga-related market, no matter what ever they do... but I really hope they have the stamina to continue... perhaps new Amiga platforms slightly improve the situation)

In reply to Comment 1 (Gabriele Greco):
As already said before, working on actual AmigaOS is working for OS4. It means you'll be able to run your tool as is on OS4. And you'll be able to add OS4 specific features afterwards....

I've been to Windows empire and Linux country, but I return to where the fun is.
All those years, I've been saving for a new Amiga. Now that it's coming I'm ready to spend. So I preordered an AmigaONE and I'll get Payback, SiN, Real3D, IBrowse, Audio Evolution, fxScan4.0, FreeSpace, ... .
Whoever does good coding: port/optimize your stuff for OS4. I'll get it! (well it least those things I want ;-)

Hey, I really hope AE4 is supposed to work on AmigaOS4 regardless of whether it's running on an Amiga (CS/BlizzardPPC) or something else ("AmigaOne"/whatever other licensed stuff there might be - hah!). Also, the multitasking capabilities have so far been more a feature of AmigaOS than an Amiga, and we must hope it will stay that way now that there won't be any more Amigas.

That’s good news, but it wouldn't suit my needs...
Is there any hope for EA’s Deluxe Music +2 (DTP Music) making to Amiga OS 4?
Just a small wish list...

Multitasking will if anything be better in OS4 than in 3.1.
There is a limit to multitasking for music/audio programs, in that
only one program at a time can output to the main AHI audio port (the
"Music Unit"). At least, that applies in 3.9. Similar limits apply to
Paula output in real Amigas.

DeLuxe Music Version 2 works on Amithlon, so it should work equally
well on AmigaOS 4.
BarsnPipes will also work. (Most recent version 1.15 from Alfred Faust
opens on an RTG public screen.)
OctaMED should work if a version of the Paula emulator "Nulle Puh" is
