Larry Anderson has been kind enough to provide the world a show report from the recent AmiWest 2002 fair in Sacramento, CA/USA. The report comes complete with photos (including the Amiga Limousine). Although the report focuses on the Commodore One computer system, it should still be of interest to any avid Amiga user. Report author Anderson is a well known name in the Commodore 64/128 community, as well as a frequent poster to the comp.sys.cbm USENET newsgroup.

Uhh.. nice report. I mean, the C1 is interesting and all that but perhaps he could have, like, mentioned the Amiga in the report, what with this being an Amiga show and all...

This is far more interesting than ANYTHING Amiga related which took place at the show...
I'll be getting one of these... It's going to be a fab demo machine

As you weren`t there then how do you know? :-)
There were a couple interesting things there, not least of which was
the Amiga1.5 motherboard (AmigaONE SE) for me to play with...albeit
only with the very dull Linux and USB for the miggy...
/ME pats his nice Highway card

A show report? More like an advertisement for the C One.

As opposed to an advertisement for Amiga Inc.? ;-)
It was labeled "CommodoreOne At AmiWest 2002". Please don't bash a nice report just because someone mislabeled it a bit when writing the news for ANN. It clearly is a nice piece on CommodoreOne by a hobbyist who is both interested and in good terms with its author.
I for one would rather thank him for taking the time to give us this report. If more people would go to this length to cover particular stories from a show that interest them in this level of detail, we'd be far better off than we are now with most of the coverage of shows concentrating on what Amiga Inc. had or didn't have to say. Diversity, people.
Thank you.

Interesting report on a computer with the all important photos, and it was different and thus a refreshing change...

Oh, sorry. I missed the homepage address on the main post. www.commodoreone.com was simple enough!

Well absolutely! It's a very interesting piece of hardware. I was brought up with Commodore VIC20/64/128 (and later the Amiga 500/1200). To tell the truth I haven't been this excited since I first saw an Amiga 500 in action, and I will buy a C1 the same day it's released! Refreshing to read about something so innovative.

Hehe, well just because I am a little bit (well alot, actually) pissed about Amiga Inc, it doesn't mean that I am a MOS fanatic or Amiga hater. One doesn't exclude the other in my opinion. *Both* the old AmigaOS and MorphOS is great, and I'm sure that Hyperion is doing a great job on the OS4. But Amiga and Amiga Inc is two completely different things, and the later makes me sick!

You're right, it WAS interesting. I might even pick up a C1 for myself at some point, not that I ever played with C64s when they were still shipping...
My machine-of-choice back then was the RadioShack Color Computer, aka the Tandy CoCo. I've still got my CoCo3 set up on it's own computer hutch... and covered with papers and stuff! :-) Haven't turned in on in years, though.
It WOULD be nice if someone produced a CoCo decendant, similar in spirit to this here C64 decendant.
Another nice thing about this report, though, was that it gave us all a look at the Amiga limo! THAT was nifty! I immediately saved that one to disk here!

Sorry to hear that John Zackarias is still hospitalized. I bought his AEMail 2.40v while at the 2001 Gateway Show in St. Louis. Will he will be passing on future development to someone else?
===SNIP===
John Zackarias Update! -- Yes after a year John is still in the hospital. The stroke effected his vision so he doesn't do any computing and TV isn't very good. He still has a tracheostomy because the problems with his throat muscles which make talking on the phone difficult.
It doesn't seem to be the ups and downs now but a slow climb up. It is very questionable that he will make it to AmiWest 2002 but he realy likes it when we stop by to talk about it with him.
The thing that he enjoys as much as talking computing is audio books, sci-fi or mysteries.
If you get a chance, drop by and tell him hello:
