New version (2.02) of FroggerNG : Comment 1 of 16ANN.lu

It's much improved from the 2.0 version, and it played all the files I
tried out except one which is audio-only.
The 68k version works well on Amithlon. (Of course an x86 version
would be nice.)
Well worth registering.

Perhaps if there's going to be an x86 version ;)

I guess if enough people who run it on amithlon..and register it (and ask for x86 support) then you might get an x86 version..... but maybe not - x86 assmebler
isnt nice ;-)
Its very refreshing to see an application that supports the various 'native'
Amiga formats as it is! PowerUP, WarpUP, MorphOS and classic 68k!!

In reply to Comment 3 (alan buxey):
Actually I think a very significant improvement in performance (on Amithlon) would occur simply by recompiling critical sections of code for x86, and using any inline x86 already provided with the codecs that have been "borrowed". This would not require any knowledge of x86 assembler, but it would require reading and understanding the Amithlon developer documentation, so it's understandable that it hasn't happened just yet.

You want to run AmigaOS under emulation on a PC? Fine.
You want x86 native software? Buy PC software!

Exactly my thoughts but it's worthless to keep this discussion, excepts for some fun of course:)

No, I would like to run AmigaOS native on the fastest available
computers. Emulation is just a stop gap, which is needed for the PPC
too. (Petunia).
I want to see AmigaOS being the fastest desktop platform on the
market, not the slowest. Does that make sense?

No? Ok I feel like typing but this is a matter of personnl opinion, so it would be an endless worthless discussion to go on and on, as you know already, but here's my one cent:
Amiga is about something unique wich IMHO is what people like about it. That PC hardware can't give. People would go like "just another PC". So in the end you would not have something better in addition, but you'd have killed what's good left:) Sure PPC boards coming are not like that custom hardwrae anymore, but you still have the PPC processor wich many people like and take as kinda unique. Amiga hardware companies would just die if we go X86. Give them some value, maybe we could have an opppotunity in the Settopbox market. Why? Well we have people buying ppc Amiga hardware, the ability to use it as a STB would be one more attraction for all those people waiting to see things working first before they buy an AmigaOne. Besides, don't you know that buying x86 hardware is giving power to Microsoft?! Even AMD has surprised people in some recent events remember? That's an enouph reason by itself:)

I want to see it be the BEST. Ok, "best" is a vague word which means
different things to different people, but in my vocabulary it doesn't
just mean "fastest" or "runs on the latest hardware". It mainly means
the "most powerful and flexible."
I've no problem with you running Amithlon. But adding special code to
make use of x86 native hooks in a special system is not going to
contribute to the rest of the Amiga systems. Whether we like it or
not, PPC has been defined as the next step where AmigaOS goes and
people should work towards *that*. Producing a 68K version from C
sources where possible is great, as it allows users who have no PPC
(like me) to try it, and people like you to run it under Amithlon (or
UAE or whatever). Unfortunately, just as someone developing a PPC-only
program does not contribute to anyone running a 68K emulation,
developing x86 hooks for a 68K based emulator does not help the
*chosen* PPC/AOS development path.
I don't want to start a flame war over Amithlon versus PPC versus x86
native OS4 etc. I just think that adding x86 native versions of
programs to run under Amithlon is heading for a backdoor way of
getting an x86-based AOS. And, sorry, IMHO I do think that is a bad
idea for many of the reasons given by Hyperion.

That's up to the developers, not you. It doesn't hurt asking for it, does it?

When did I ask Hyperion to make an x86 AmigaOS?
