The Reg has a story about Amiga and Nokia as well as Sendo. Only I thought the media terminal was dead!

Mr Orlowski is a little confused - he implies that AmigaOS4 is the product Amiga Inc. are selling to Nokia.
Anyone care to enlighten him? Oh, do!

Honestly, don't bother enlightening him!
68000 based A4000 eh? Oh well.

8 out of 10 for effort though! Only 7 out of 10 for accuracy.
See how they changed the letter "g" in "Stinger" to a "k" - do you see? Thats funny. That made me laugh that did. Oh yes. Laugh.
Maybe they are putting OS4 in the media terminal and thats why its all taking so long and we thought the media terminal was no more... lol
;)

In reply to Comment 2 (Graham):
It is 68000 *based* technology as in 68000 series, who knows/cares if its a 030 or 040?! The point is they have PPC cards in them, which he fails to mention but it would make more sense if he had...

In reply to Comment 4 (Ben):
That is 680x0. 68000 is a specific processor in the 680x0 series ...

...and Mediaterminal did not use G3 CPU ...
And the whole subdivision that had the main development has been shut down.
The developer site (with Nokia's Amiga "announcement") was shut down week ago.

Let's not get too anal here. These days there's not much difference between a 68000 and a 68040. That's a difference of at most 50-100Mhz. These days we're talking about 2GHz, so to an outsider a 68040 is just as slow as a 68000. Yes, I know the 040 is way better, I own a 4000, but I wouldn't make a big deal about it if someone told me the 040 and the 68000 chips are the same thing.

In reply to Comment 7 (Mike Veroukis):
Hmm, ok, the difference is like 33MHz in my case. But duh, that's a difference from 7 to 40 in MHz, and a difference from ~0.5 to ~30 in actual getting-things-done-rating. I have yet to meet someone who failed to grasp that the difference there is a LOT bigger than upping the speed of a P4 by 33MHz ;-)
Of course, I might have some sort of aura or something that makes sure the most stupid lamers don't dare approach me, but I don't remember installing it.

Yes, let's get anal. I'm not gonna tell you which, but the news site I work for has been submitted to the sharp end (or dull, depends on how you look at it) of mailstorms from enraged Amiga zealots (usually two or three people sending 8-10 messages each). We used to publish Amiga stories, but unless something exceptional or tangible happens, there's an end to that. Mostly it's of course because of there are never any news, only marketing announcements, and if the hard core of sub-petric dwellers of the "community" insists on believeing in "new Amigas" or whatnot, they can fight it out in forums like these. (yep, we still get mail about "new Amigas". What the Amiga Inc company itself tells them about licensed hardware doesn't seem to get through...)
In the good old days the zealots were at least *Amiga* zealots, but judging from the content of the flames that seems to have changed to *Amiga Inc* zealots, which is kind of sad really. Not even the lunatics are what they used to. :)

The difference between an 68000/7.2MHz and an 68060/50MHz is like the difference
between a PI/75MHz and a PIII/400MHz.
Not the MHz, mind you, but these are different CPUs, though they are the same
family and compatible. But then, x86 is the same...
I don't care what PeZeehs think, I do not want to archive with 68000 anymore ;-)
