"Amiga"? This is about the "AACE" running on as an application on yet another device, so I assume you mean Amiga Inc.
Yeah, let's. Let's show the world that we're all drooling sheep who feel it's our duty to praise whoever happens to own the Amiga trademarks and whatever they slap them on. Let's not think, let's not say our opinion if it deviates from the corporate press release of the month, all that matters is that we show Amiga Inc. in a "good positive light". On another site I would naturally have appreciated your sarcasm, but now I'm afraid you were being serious. :-(

A bit of sarcasm since it is only for the AmigaAnywhere(provided_it_runs_winblows).
A bit was serious since it should be possible to also run those apps on AmigaOS in the future (5 possibly) so trying to get others to recognise it who arent Amiga ppl would still be of use even if it is limited. (Also without trying to be doing PR for Amiga Inc., if we really want to see AmigaOS4 flourish they need funds so even if they get some in this manner it will still help us in the long run - wont it ).

yep, heard this record before, but it seems to have got a nasty scratch on it, and starts repeating itself over and over.
how dull.
no discussion, nothing, just mindless negative rants which just bore me senseless.
if someone would enlighten me to a negative reason for Amiga Anywhere content to be running on the sendo device, i would appreciate it, besides 'Amiga's have nothing to do with phones blah blah'.

Oh, look, an announcement we already know about but now it's posted on another site (so it's Newsworthy) which might ultimately help *AACE/DE Developers* and Amiga Inc. sell more software, and one person so far objects to the exhortation to start posting praise about a company on a site that not many of us here visit otherwise.

I'd be interested too. I sure haven't said that it's bad. But yeah, *any* view deviating from *anything* in the marketing about *anything* in a thread about *anything* bearing the Amiga trademark is of course "mindless bashing". How dull.

yes, *we* already know of the announcement, but there are quite a few more people who read geek.com that dont, and its nice to know how far word is spreading and how it is being spread.

#1 negative thing is that the Sendo Z100 is destined to be a flop. It's like a CD32 or something. You do not need anyone associating it with Amiga.
#2 negative thing is that AInc are re-announcing their failed products for this new hardware. The AACE promised for April, then June and now "coming soon" is nowhere to be seen in Sendo cross-marketing, most sites only mention the crippled "Entertainment pack"

Please think about it: There is no Amiga anymore like we used to know it.
Amiga Inc. will merge the AmigaAnywhere/AE system with AmigaOS4 when both are

By lowering the sound of AmigaAnywhere/AE you only lower the sound of any future
AmigaOS version.
Not only this: You proof to be an oldfashioned conservative thinker. In fact you
are so conservative that you would prefer to run an outdated system, that holds
deep graves on its skin, conserving it so well in your TIGHT-mind, that you squeeze
it to death.
If I have the free choice between a plate of fresh apples, oranges and bananas and a tin
of fruitsalad I will take the fresh. It not only gives me a free choice on
how I want to eat them, it also gives me all the vitamins of new and fresh fruits,
along with the fine and exciting taste they contain.
If you like to eat baked beans on toast, since you can prepare them in five minutes,
go for it: Keep the old stuff and be an IBM/Microsoft afficionado. Because:
Conservative thinking was what killed any non-IBM market. IBM stood for prooven
goodness so all went with a crappy XT system that days and not all too much
has changed.
If you, however, are free for progression all you need to think about are
interconnected consumer devices of audio/video fame, PDAs. cellulars, notebooks
and webpads, a remote control in your hand, that not only you use to lower
the volume of your DVD player but that also will project any shedules you
have this day onto the flatpanel mounted on the kitchens-wall.
This is what Amiga Inc. have in mind. Equip all these new devices with AmigaOS,
yet allow this OS to be more than a small kernel and API suite for embedded
devices, they want to go a whole step more and cut off the software from the
hardware, well knowing, that hardware is nothink much than a practical platform,
while the idea lies within the software.
Should they achieve their goal you not only will have a top-of-the-notch Desktop
OS but you won't need to buy yourself new and other software, but complete interoperability
for all your devices, using ONE SINGEL API system, that you easily can script
with 'SHEEP'.
Uhm, what is so bad about a cellular, that I can script myself ? Or an STB ?
Just like I do with my Desktop ?

It is those who are in fear, that Amiga is gone, which let go the Amiga.
This reminds me a little on the nation, where all were scared of the neighbour.
However, the neighbour was a peacfull nation and had nothing else in mind,
than to live their live in peace. For some stupid reason the first nation we
talk about was scared to hell, that they started putting lots of army at the
borders. The second nation got scared and now did the same. By fear alone the
first nation introduced a war.
Not much difference with our self proclaimed Amiga-Gods.
They see their old world die and fear the new. I admit easily, Amiga Inc. is not clever at
all in the way they promote their stuff, they are extremly the opposite of doing
good and it was not good to abuse the Amiga community in a way they did.
Our self-proclaimed Amiga-Gods fear the loss of 'their' AmigaOS and destroy
it - alone with the power of fear - themselfes. Oh, I am pretty sure, that
some of the not-so-fearfull will do another mistake: Wait and see what the others
do, not giving up some grain of fear either, and, oh wonder, nothing will happen.
Sure, I admit, that *I* would not like to develop for the DE. And the fact
is simple: Amiga Inc. are behaving like 'cretains'. There is no sound developer
support, no action to win us people. There should be much much more docs and
articles flowing around, a much better website and much much more open thought-
support. All is lacking, instead we see Bill in the role of a hopeless wandering
salesman, knocking at the doors, trying to sell something that is nice, but not
really something you *really* want, trying to feed his family, which is at home,
waiting for his success.
Oh, don't tell me Bill is not your father ;-) Our Mom, Amiga, married a new
guy. This is fact. This is what we have now.

So, Mother Amiga is dead, McEwen is the auctioneer selling off her estate to the highest bidder, well, anyone really, while the necrophiliacs are cheering because somebody is interested in buying the stuff no matter if it's just to be re-sold for its scrap value. The ones wanting to restore the house are effectively silenced. The rest of the world are laughing at the spectacle.

The press release at WirelessSoftware.info says "The first Entertainment Pack features four unsurpassed applications that are a testament to the innovation of the Amiga development community." Is this the entertainment pack already being sold at the AmigaAnywhere site? If so, it's rather sad, isn't it? These announcements create very high expectations for AmigaAnywhere software. If the reality is more of what we've seen so far, people will not take any of it seriously.

I read ANN as my main source of "Whas happenin'?"
and I don't feel that it is all that negative. Maybe
I have thick skin? I use my Amiga everyday. It feels
friendly and personal way more than the Sun Ultra-1
I get paid to work with, or the Windows NT I get paid
to work with, or my wife's iMac that we (she) receives
all our email with. I cannot yet love AmigaDE because
it is not here.
I can only think of the sweet bye-n-bye when OS4 is
done and I have an AmigaOne running so that I am no
longer lured by those other platforms and are SOOOOOO
speedy in image manipulaton.
I prefer to be non-critical and silent about the
goings on of Amiga, Inc.
You are very right in your observation that many of us
are grown children watching our mother marry someone
who is less than a hero. Bill McEwen has not yet earned
our worship. If he does... he will not have any need
of our worship, he will, by that fact alone, soared way
beyond the reaches of our complaints.

AmigaDE is here ( development environment ).
The player is here ( Anywhere and package management ).
What the final product that comes out from AmigaDE is I dont know and I dont care.
I seriously doubt you will be able to stop playing with the Mac when OS4 comes out, not enough PPC native GFX or publishing programs. Yet.
