On an ANN thread Bill and Raquel comment on their attitude towareds AmigaOS4 and it's appearance on the pegasos.
"If AmigaOS4.0 is fully finished and running natively on a PPC we will be happy for Hyperion and Amiga Inc. Undoubtedly, in this community there will be more than one person who will copy a legally obtained copy of the operating system onto the Pegasos. How will Amiga Inc. stop this? We cannot control this and neither can they. If AmigaOS4.0 becomes what it is claimed to be – great! We will sell a few more Pegasos machines. Thanks Hyperion! We wish them our best. We have absolutely nothing against this effort."

Personally I think that no hardware developers who don't licence the amiga name will pay money for certification to get os4 running on their boards. However because the pegasos and the amiga one share the same northbridge and BIOS (atm), it should not be difficult for a developer to port os4 across to the pegasos. The question is; Will Hyperion and Amiga Inc allow this without wanting money from Bplan/Thendic France? And does it matter?

>>Or is there anybody who can tell, when Amithlon 2 will be available?
>>All these products are not available because of the politics of Amiga Inc.!
>That is absolutely not true. (every sane people know it)
AInc pushed Bernie and Harald towards H&P fully knowing that they allready
had problems with them, and they didn't even bother to wait for the signed
contract before they started calling it a "fully licenced product".
Rumor says it was done to cover up the A1-Escena/OS4-inhouse+H&P desaster
last summer.
And thats the AInc-friendliest version of the story I've heard sofar.
If they had some REAL buisness-sense, we would have been able to buy the
first Amithlon-version bundled with only OS3.1 back in September and fully
licenced.

And if cows had wings, they would fly...
But anyway. I can not see how Amiga Inc is preventing Amithlon2 from being sold.
But I understand why it is so easy to blame AmigaInc for everything.

They are not preventing it now, but they had their hands in the stuff that
resulted in the problems, which make it impossible to release it now.
So yes AInc's politcs (in 2001) are the/one reason why Amithlon2 is not available.
And now go back to Jürgen's post ...

I thought it was Harald threating to sue bernie if he tries to sell Amithlon2..?
Yet another of these things where no one knows what is the truth, except those involved.

Yes Harald said something about sueing against Bernie and AInc, but
the missing P96-licence is what keeping it from release.
The P96 have a contract with H&P, and they don't know if it is still
binding. I doubt that they would have granted that licence if AInc
hadn't told them (like everyone else) that H&P had a licence for the
Kick used in Amithlon.
Telling the truth ("we are hopefull, but no signed contract yet") would
have resulted in a delay for the release, but nothing more.
Atm I'm allmost sure that Amithlon is completly FUBARed ;-(

Keep in mind that it was H&P who were desperate for the immediate release, not Amiga Inc. The agreement to let H&P distribute ahead of the contract being signed will have been reached at H&P's request.

That they were naive? That their position at the time was weak and susceptible to "presure"? That other factors were involved?
The point is that we don't know their reasons for WHY they approached the issue the way they did, so it is unwise to automatically assume it was incompetence or underhand practices. I'd be quite prepared to say that NONE of us have been told the full story of what happened between AmiWest 2001 and the end of October of the same year.

"Ouch! Some people travelled 600km to talk with fleecy!"
I was lucky one with only about 600km travel and just carring small laptop for DE demoing... Some others had to travel over 2000km (>1000 in each direction) just to bring their full-tower Amigas into show and help on organizing the happening.. And no, none got any $$$..
I was hoping to see (or even buy) Amiga-DE PDA at that time. But, alas I did not see one then nor have I seen any since.

It was not bad day in all, it was nice to meet Amiga people around the contry and it was good to see/hear Mr Battilana (I hope I get his name right?) demoing latest AmigaForever... Allmost everything went just fine, Except AmigaInc that is.. :(
Hmm.. I just realized no-one has got time/energy to translate these photo captions to English.. Ah well, my laptop with DE-player running is on page4 :-) http://batman.jypoly.fi/~saku/saku2001/valokuvaraportti/index.html

But oh boy I was surpriced when I found myself in a picture on the finnish PC magazine "MicroBitti"!
(the publicity is around the corner, if only AI could deliver their goods)
Anyway, also I enjoyed Saku2001, but still if Fleecy...

"Nazi" seems to be used for anything people shall dislike by default.
