Vote for an Amiga club logo and name through Amiga's Amiga Community section. Amiga is holding a contest to determine a logo and a new name for the current "I Am Amiga" club. Name submissions should be sent to submissions@amiga.com. You can upload your own logo for the logo competition using the form found here.

What happened to the simple boingball logo? All of these include some kind of slogan or name (and none of them match the names in the separate Name competition), or fancy photoshop eyecandy. The t-shirts will look much better with a simple logo.

Yeah, well, I'm just appalled by finding a "Community" section on the amiga-anywhere.com domain. Yeah, WinCE, Symbian and Linux users, unite in your new "community". First you were all bought for $5M, then you sold yourselves again for $50. Does it feel good to make yourselves for sale?
"I AM AMIGA!!! HEAR ME DROOL!!!"
I was gonna rig the vote to pick the damn ugliest abomination there was to have a good guffaw at the most gullible asshats walking around in those t-shirts. Unfortunately it turns out that each end every "contribution" is absolutely revolting! Isn't there even ONE person with talents left among the zealots and sycophants?

Hmm, not many pictures to choose from in there! Logos need to be simple, eyecatching and easy to print on paper; tshirts etc.
To that end of the ones there (More choce darnit!) 35 and 827 are the best but I voted for ac35 as its very simple but looks good and will possibly make people ask what its for (needs the name under it or something though).
As for the club name - "All Amiga" was my choice, but yet again - more options needed!

Actually there are a few nice ones in there. I
personally like #1599, 315, 893, 965. I think
I would vote for 893, since it has a cool
real art feel to it although 965 gets the
message across pretty good. Anyway nice to
see people taking the time to contribute
something. Anyway I am not in the club so
it's a bit hard to vote, heh. ;)

The one with the 'falling' man is amateurish but okay.
I
AM
AMIGA
is very good, but won't do it since the name of the club is going to change.
Oh, btw, I'd added an ® sign to the 'I' as well, just for fun ;-)

Hmm, am I the only user left running in 128MB RAM? Or if not, do Amiga browsers' PNG support blow away Mozilla's? If not, I'd urge others to be a little cautious with Henning Lund's 3000x3000 pixel entry (AC842.png), though I survived to view and tell about it. :)
Rogerio's entry gets the 'Best Pun' award, if I'm reading that board right. Unfortunately, I hate to keep a reputation for nitpicking, but a lot of the slogans tossed around lately seem to lose something through incomplete brevity; "Your enjoyable experience in computing" distills readily to "Your enjoyable computing experience," or "Your enjoyable digital experience" if you wanted to riff in some small way off the initials 'DE.'
Can we get some sense of the planned 'deadline' on the submissions and polling? Like, how much time are we expected to have to think or submit our own? :) Unfortunately, the artwork choice does rather hinge on the name... Can Andrea get an 'automatic' entry on the name poll for "Amiga Boingedclub," so there's at least the option of consistency? :}

Why are you that optimistic after seeing all this crap? The rest of the world will NEVER hold an Amiga show in as high regard as a Trekkie convention!
:-D
If you look at the bottom of a list of prestigious meetings you'll see Trekkie conventions, Amway rallies and the Romanian Mud Wrestling Championship For Mature Lesbians With Hirsuitism. Then, if you turn the page, you'll see "AMIGA SHOWS ROXXORZ!11!!¡¡!11! I AM AMGIA!!!111!!" scribbled in crayon.

Its stuff like the "club" and the childlike press releases from some of the
companies in this scene (and their behavior ) that make me feel more and more
alienated from the whole Amiga experience.
I buy a computer to explore, use and innovate and I come on fora like these
to discuss that and the news of the day.
Not join a juvenile club or read over-exited lame press releases from people
that should know better.
Well I said before that the Amigas position on my desktop is measured in
days with the current rate of progress.
Its now minutes.
Anyone want to buy an A1200 in a tower with a 52x CDROM, 128 Mb Ram a PhaseV
Blizzard PPC 603@240Mhz and 16 Gb HD with loads of Amiga software, genuine
versions of Amiga operating systems, development environments a few good games
like Payback, Aqua, Foundation, Wipeout 2097, Shogo, HereticII?
Oh and must cancel order for A1SEG3.
When I log off, this kit gets switched off and mothballed. I might even give
it away on E-bay.

That's a fairly impressive gallery of uninspiring logos. Well, if you can call them logos rather than "let's see how this filter/3d tool works" pictures.
AC925 looks like the morning after a bad night out. AC2010 is a disgrace. I'm still waiting for AC842 (2Mb? WTF!).
The only one which seems to have had any nice idea behind it is AC2002, and only the left hand side of it (the text blows).
Perhaps we'd be better off with a "shitgobbling smiley" (funniest thing I've read all year :)

Despite 50+ years of computer science, I don't think any system is there yet. The only one that comes close to even TRYING is linux - surely that Free stuff is the only way you'll escape the commercial and corporate insanity of the establishment.
I wonder what will happen when Amiga Inc. dies? Hyperion have the ability to continue developing AOS on their own. Will this deal run out when someone else buys Amiga's IP? I wonder if the Amiga assests will ever be valued low enough for a Community Buyout? Chances are that Amiga will go under with a pile of debt that nobody will be willing to take up. What happens to the Amiga IP then? Sorry if this seems a little morbid, but it's more than a possibility, and certainly worth thinking about.

A Community buyout?
Even if you could get people to cough up the money to buy any assets, what then?
There's no way you could get enough money out of whats left of this community to actually develop anything new (meaning hardware), in other words: buying the IP is possibly the cheapest part of the story... Then what? You'll need a sound business plan to attract outside investors, what's your plan?

First of all, HYPErion, AFAIK, has nothing to do with AROS developement. Second, who cares who gets the Amiga trademark (and perhaps copyrighted items if Amino did by them and just not the trademark and old hardware stock) after Amino's last gasp? HYPEOS4 doesn't need Amino as HYPErion has the complete rights to their OS, regardless if Amino is alive or dead. AROS is the true successor to AmigaOS/WB and that's open source so it can not die unless the last coder gives up interest in developing it. Berniethlon, if it sees the light of day, is another avenue which I hope will be licensed like HYPEOS4, so it can continue regardless if Bill/Fleecy still has VC to draw their paychecks from.
Although I clearly think Berniethlon is the right track to take for developement, AROS is my second option on keeping some OS around that reminds me of what Amiga OS/WB could have been.

I must say that anyone that hasn't used
Amithlon just can't understand how great
a next generation Amiga feels to use. I
have never used such a fast smooth efficient
and powerful OS/Hardware combination ever.
It really is great to have everything you
do happen before your finger leaves the
mouse. (it's really this fast 90% of the time)
Anyway the point is that Amiga is back in
a big way now that we have an equal hardware
basis to the competition and Amithlon x86, PPC
OS 4, AROS, MorphOS etc. insures many unique
and well supported Amiga channels to follow
in the future. Thanks bernie, I love this
machine. :) (sorry this is a bit off topic
but I had to say it...) ;)

Licensed Community Member! 2054 would get Amiga sued by Apple. 2036 is just horrific. "Heralding in the Dawn of a New Digital Horizon" is the worst sentence I have ever read in my life, but the picture's quite nice. Unsuitable for a T-Shirt however. The names that revolve around "community member" are just sick - you have to pay to be in the community?
2010 is also pretty good. Minimalist. Really shows what the amiga is about.

So you'r not allowed to disagree or critisize your computer platform and are obliged to be smiling like a retard no matter what?
I don't agree cliff y in all of his negativity and insults but he has a point that most of the logos are very amateurish, and one does not have to be able to draw any better on a paint program to realize and see what is goodlooking or professional and what is not. The same kind of thinking is rampant in the outside world so don't hold your breath if people outside amiga community will not approach you asking where you have got such a nice shirt from, and what does it stand for.
There is absolutely no pun intended for the people who have seen a lot of trouble and work to get their creations done.
Anyway my original point was that having had an amiga thru ups and downs for over 14 years should give the person still hanging on to it a freedom to be able to critisize the platform for it's weaknesses aswell. There is not a single computer platform out there without flaws and our amiga is certainly not least of them. Closing your eyes and ears and faking those flaws don't exist won't help them disappear.

If your entry doesn't win, any plans of making up a few T-Shirts for mail orders on your own?

In reply to Comment 42 (Teemu I. Yliselä):
The name was actually arbitrary, but used to make the design more complete. We also assume that Club Amiga has probably been used at some point in time, but I don't any of this is a concern for infringement of copyright.

Phrase: Amiga-Anywhere Community Center
Mental picture: Society's rejects gather in an old building that smells of urine and pot pouri to play with 3rd rate computer games on old, flickery televisions with their bowl-like curved glass covered in sticky fingerprints and worse.
It's not just me, right? Everyone else must be starting to suspect by now that Amiga Inc. is a very expensive joke at the community's expense, with Bill and Fleecy spending hours every week dreaming up plans to make their company look amateurish and clumsy ?
How could no-one in the company have heard of the numbers game (aka illegal lottery) ? Where did they find those awful clip art images ? Who thought it would make the DE ports list look more realistic if they listed Mario 64 ?
