Oh, you mean that toy money? ;P According to XE.com (020910), this equals 782.283 EUR. Don't know what it's "supposed" to cost, I only found complete systems on Vesalia, but it's probably a little more expensive in Sweden than in the UK for example.

In reply to Comment 1 (Anonymous):
AFAIK, the price of the Pegasos with a G3 cpu (same as on the A1 G3SE) is 650 euros plus VAT.
The price of the A1, currently stated as 600 euros/500 USD ex VAT, is apparently going to change. Downwards. The price will remain $500, are as Eyetech pay for most of the thing in dollars, the euro and sterling prices are to be adjusted to take into account the changes in the exchange rates - in our favour for once, lads.
This was announced at the Alchimie party, but apparently everyone was too blinded by MOS eye-candy to actually listen.
Eyetech are even considering marketing the A1-XE, the one with the removable CPU module, at the same time as the A1G3SE (orders taken from mid-October for delivery mid to end November 2002). No idea what the price will be, and it'll have a single G3 module to start with (G4 chips are too rare and too dear because Apple eats them. That's why the Pegasos doesn't have one either).
Oh, and the Linux-only boards - which don't have the AOS licence and ROM - will be sold at the same price as the A1, as Eyetech is European dealer for both.
The A1 comes with a licence for AOS *and* LinuxPPC, of course.

If they are the same price, why would anyone want to buy the
Linux-only version? Are there any difficulties in installing Linux on
the Amiga version?

Well, Rose (anarchic_teapot) too bad you had to come back to ANN just to post things that are not true and that you do not know anything about.
For all concerned, here is our current position:
The Pegasos mainboard with 600 Mhz G3 (which is upgradable AND scalable) will be sold to end users for 560 Euros from Thendic-France or our Distributors/Resellers. Our prices to Resellers and Distributors are of course better and based on volume. They are in business too. We need to support them and we will.
The G4 upgrade can be purchased for less than 200 Euros and you will be able to do this well before the end of the year -- if you want (see www.morphos-news.de for earlier discussion about this).
You will see basic models of the Pegasos for less than 800 Euros (including tax) as Gunne is offering here and was/is the subject of this thread.
MorphOS gets better daily and we will delivered Betatester machines 127-133 this week. Betatester machines remain 1000 Euros because all the extras come with it - the smart card reader, the wireless camera, the dataplay module - depending on what each individual Betatester is working on. Betatesters also get upgraded to the G4 and have FTP access for the latest ROM.
Further, every version of Linux for the PPC known to has has been installed and works fine. We have been especially amazed by Mac-on-Linux. Sitting next to a G4 iMac you cannot tell the difference between which machine is running the same applications (please spare us the EULA discussions).
Raquel and I had a brief and friendly conversation with Allan Redhouse Saturday at Tain l'Hermitage. If we can do that with Allan, everyone else can too. No more FUD Rose. You worry about your interests; we will worry about ours. The Pegasos and MorphOS speaks for itself now.
If you want to hold a Pegasos show please send us an email. We will figure out a way to support you. There are Pegasos demos being planned/scheduled in nearly every weekend until the big show in Aachen in December.
Last note: The A-Expo was *extremely* well organized. We were very pleased to be involved. Congratulations to the A-Expo Team!
Thanks,
Raquel and Bill

800 euros inc. VAT is slightly more than 650 euros ex VAT at the current French rate of 19.6% (the betatester systems are 1000 euros ex VAT - figure taken from your own website). Can't be much in that basic model. What's the price difference: a cheap tower? The CPU? Funny how you don't make that very clear.
"The G4 upgrade can be purchased for less than 200 Euros and you will be able to do this well before the end of the year "
Comparing prices with the G4 upgrade cards for Macs (<http://www.sonnettech.com/>) leaves me quite frankly speechless with admiration. Less than half the price?
"MorphOS gets better daily "
Still debugging, then.
<snip lots of crap having nothing to do with my post>
"Raquel and I had a brief and friendly conversation with Allan Redhouse Saturday at Tain l'Hermitage. If we can do that with Allan, everyone else can too."
Yes, I heard about that. You asked him if he'd sell the Pegasos, and he said yes of course - if you'd sell the AmigaOne.
"No more FUD Rose. You worry about your interests; we will worry about ours. The Pegasos and MorphOS speaks for itself now."
In what way am I spreading FUD? Where are the inaccuracies? How can you expect anyone to take you seriously when you bluster, lie, and dodge?
No apologies for the above language. If I haven't caught him "en flagrant délit" - sorry Billy boy, I forgot that after 8 years in France with a French wife you still can't get along too well in French - then maybe one of us is living on a different planet.
"If you want to hold a Pegasos show please send us an email. We will figure out a way to support you."
I'd be delighted. The support I require is full and legal support for AOS4.

P.S. @Allan -- I have a sense of humor too Allan, which is why we are still laughing at your excuse for not being there Sunday.

(the extremely dodgy weather conditions and flood warnings for the next 2 days were the reason Eyetech packed up early at the show)

Hi everyone,
I couldn't let this threat go wild for this (Yes, I'm an Amiga-Fan AND working at the Commission) :
You have to compare products wo-VAT as we are living in a single market for Europe but not a harmonized market (due to Member states specific VAT). For this, only pressure of the market can lead to harmonized prices. Until them, the market rules and you just should buy the product on the cheapest VAT price.
Anyway : glad to see products at last going on the market : hipes and vapourware are killing my beloved machine. If I can, I'll buy both just to support and hope they could agree on getting best of all world instead of break this "already small niche" market.

"You and me use the same language so I think that now your little mind will understand the word KEEP THIS IN YOUR ASS_MIND: if for you Morph is debugged ...well AMIGAOS 4 is not debuggable ..."
I think its been through debug , its a major part of software development , something you know nothing about no doubt.
"because it doesn't run at all (a part a ridicolous "demo" on a CyberstormPPC, really more ridicolous than the first beta of Morphos, released 2 years ago)"
That Morhpos beta was a parasite emulator that basically forfilled the 68k's function on the PPC e.g most of the OS you were seeing was Amigas !
As I see it OS4 is being developed in modules, many modules at a time by different people .. while those at hyperion develop the kernel / base OS ... Os4 by the looks of it has been developed to "Drop-in" replacement for the os 3.x platform and the external development done on 68k , os3.x , amithlon and other classic amigaOS solutions in clean C should compile and run not only on the os4.x platform but also the PPC platform ( In simple terms , on the OS platform and CPU platform ). So the demo was demostrating those external *MODULES* and not the overall os4 product, which for the record has had alot less time and questable access to the low level documents needed then morphos.

Morphos-news has word it is a 800MHz G4. Fair cost of this carrier I expect to
be ~50 Euro if we look at the comparable Socket370-to-Slot1 PC adapters. Now
the question is if this thing has L3 cache. The advantage of G4 vs. G3 is the
MPX bus (Articia S doesn't support), the Altivec unit, the better SMP abilities
(MESI vs. MEI), 2MB L3 possibility and the better double precision FPU afaik.
The drawbacks are a larger die (more expensive and more heat) and the longer
pipelines.
Without L3 cache and SMP configuration the only relevant advantage would be the
Altivec implementation. So I ask how are MorphOS/Linux/Mac-on-Linux going to
