BTW, Thendic helps the community a lot... We're planning to do an Amiga show
in December, and they already said that they will come...

Yes, this is correct. Thendic/bplan have brought back the spirit! Get off your stupid high horse Amiga and make a deal with them. They can save you -- not HYPERACTIVE-ON or I-TECH(not)!
We need to "bong" back the spirit of amiga!

Samface: But even you have to admit Thendic are everywhere in force. They seem to support any event out there these days, and that is something usergroups really need - support. Amiga owners haven't been like this since Petro at Gateway. No wonder people are beginning to cheer for Thendic. Amiga Inc. on the other hand is hardly anywhere and if they are, in a very limited capacity.
Maybe its resources. Maybe it is resolve. Maybe it is priorities. But Thendic seems to be doing something right... So far, anyway.

To anyone who doubts: Try putting together an Amiga show. Contact Amiga Inc. and its partners. Contact Thendic. The latter will be there in a hurry and they will make all their arrangements themselves. Amiga Inc. probably won't show up at all (if they even respond) or cancel, and their partners can help in a very limited fashion (although they seem to try harder than Amiga). Quite the contrast to Thendic that will probably show up with ten people and ten machines by just asking them once. (Well that is what they've done lately! Just look at the latest schedules and reports...)
Now, Petro was like that. He would ship out boxes full of promotional goodies just by asking and then flew to the event himself as well. All over the world. Big and small events. Even if he had no products to show off. He was THE cheerleader. And you didn't have to ask him twice. I'm not saying Amiga Inc. or their partners haven't attended shows. Sure they have, but they have never made things as easy as Petro did, or as frequent, or made you feel as supported - and Thendic seems to be catching up with the Petro style well.
And these people organizing and visiting shows seem to like it. Hopefully Amiga Inc. will take a hint.

The saddest part is: Amiga Inc. had Petro when they started. Too bad they never realized his true potential as a person (no matter how controversial and technically limited) who could make the masses feel like someone cared. And get that grin on peoples faces. And not only because he had a funny accent or because he got the occasional technical detail wrong. Because he was THERE.

Yes .. Petro was/is an influential, motivational person. A marketing asset to any company he believed in. I shook my head in disbelief when he announced his retirement.
It must've been a major disagreement he had with the new owners that he felt he had to stand down.
AmigaIncs new direction probably violated his promises and therefore his principles!!
Didn't something similer happen to Jim Collas?

Alan Redhouse seems to be appearing a quite a lot of shows these days,
presenting the AmigaOne. There's a limit to how much he can do until
the OS is installed and working.

Good Day!
We just thought we would add a nice note about Petro.
He is on his way to India today where he is participating in a Smart Card Show in New Dehli that will be held later in the week. He will be in a 20 square meeting booth selling the Thendic Cashboy.
More importantly, Petro will be attending the Betatester II Conference on 12 October at the Frankfurt Hilton and will also be with us at the Aachen Show in December.
We appreciate Petro and are glad we are working with him!
Sincerely,
Raquel and Bill
